Re: Clutch Replacement

Strap the gearbox to the Jack, makes rocking it in to a point where you can pull it in with the bolts far easier.

Re: need new clutch mk1

This is the information I recieved back from Blue Print when I enquired as to clutch sizes for the Mk1.

ADT33026 for models built before 6/85 - 200mm disc
ADT33099 for models built after 6/85 - 212mm disc

Thus only 1A's made up to 06/85 have a 200mm clutch.

Re: Poor braking - not pads or disks.

I would try bleeding first you may have some air in the system this would account for them being low on efficiency worth a try.

Re: Window motor replacement

I would def check the motor, this can be done by shorting out the switch connector and as you will have to disconnect this to remove the door trim prior to changing the motor etc well worth doing.

Re: Window motor replacement

Is it the passenger side? If so before you change the motor have you checked the passenger side switch, you can disconnect the switch and bridge the terminals on the connector to make the window mechanism work (can't remember what dose what exactly). The switch causes issues because there is no rela...

Re: stupid question about the expansion tank

Hi

The expansion tank just lifts off, it can sometimes seem a bit stiff but if you pull straight up it should lift off.

Re: Do i change my car or not?

Your opening statement says it all to me I have an 89 mk1 t-bar. It has low miles, no mechanical probs and very little rust If I was making the choice I would get the rust sorted ASAP (the longer you leave it the more time, effort and money it takes to cure it) and Waxoil the whole car to stop any f...

Re: TVIS Question

Do the TVIS valves open fully as soon as they are activated or do they move to adjust air intake with revs/load etc,

With the TVIS it is either on or off there is no in between and as far as I am aware it is entirely dependent on the Revs as to when it comes in.

Re: TVIS Question

Just wondering, and sorry for the thread hi-jack, but is there any way you can change the point TVIS comes on??? Although Lauren in right in as much as there is no adjustment which sets the point at which the TVIS activates because the activation is controlled by the ECU. You have two options for c...

Re: TVIS Question

Hi Kev Understand where your coming from, but reading Mr T's Engine Repair Manual at low revs there should be vacuum between the VSV and actuator 4,350 revs for a 1A and zero vacuum above, this leads me to believe that the TVIS is activated by the VSV closing off the vacuum, thus if vacuum is presen...

TVIS Question

Hi there My question is "Can I bypass the VSV switch on the TVIS?" As far as I can see connecting the vacuum hose directly from the reservoir to the actuator will simply mean that the TVIS is disabled, am I right. I need to do this as I have broken one of the pipes on the VSV checking for ...
