Any decent local motor factors should have them in stock, cost around £70 for a complete kit.

mk1a is a 200mm clutch, mk1b is a 212mm clutch. Those prices look quite expensive i got my Aisin one for £70 from my local motor factors.

Text speak is not allowed? Why not?

BrainDamage - Was it you I sold the front bumper to? What did that look like in the end?

I assume the rule you are refering to is
"Contributions containing languages other than English may be removed. Please use a translation service if English is not your first language. "

Sometimes I just fall about laughing at the interpretation of the rules by certain moderators. I abhor text speak but I am afraid it is English, in a similar way that Americans speak English. If you are going to berate members for breaking the rules perhaps it would be a good idea to write the rules first :D

Anyway back on topic, just go to any local motor factors, they should get you one same day for about £70. Beware though, they are a nightmare to fit on your own so get some friends to help :thumleft:

No text speak or foreign language posts: English is the forum language. Those that don’t use English as their first language should use an online translator (eg bablefish) to make and read posts.

These are the rules you agreed to abiding when signing up to the forums they can be found here (clicky) if you wish to refresh you mind with the rules.

As I have not broken any rules I do not believe I need to refresh my mind. However at the top of the page there is link to rules which is where I looked, obviously I should have looked under "Club News and Announcements" as this is where the rule are you are referring to is kept.

If you wish people to abide by the rules then surely it would be a good idea to make them easily available, how many new members would think to look under "Club News and Announcements"

Now if I was going to be pedantic I would point out that "agreed to abiding" is not really English so your post is actually breaking the rules. Unless of course English is not your first language and then I apologise for any offense caused :D

braindamage be careful, your 87 is a crossover car made up of 1a and 1b parts, you may well find an early clutch in that car,its probably a late one but ive been caught out many times... its advisable to remove the clutch first, measure it and then order the new one.

On the text speak issue, just type the bloody words.....that goes for acronyms too, both equally annoying and lazy.

check if u have the air filter box in the boot or in the engine compartment...if its in the boot its mk1b and u need one of them:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-3-PIECE-CLUTC ... dZViewItem

i bought it and get them to fit it and paid 300 pounds:
clutch kit + labour + clutch slave cylinder with labour:) and cars running perfect :)

im afraid the filter check wont reveal what clutch its got fitted... these crossover 87 cars came with all manner of parts including late and early clutches on both late and early engines.....also you cant account for someone fitting a different size clutch to the original in 20 years of its life

I know this because it happens weekly here

sense no make your words

you're missing the point, what im trying to tell you is its impossible to tell exactly what size clutch its got fitted,we've seen them all including a late 89 car that someone had previously fitted a 1a clutch to.

This is the information I recieved back from Blue Print when I enquired as to clutch sizes for the Mk1.

ADT33026 for models built before 6/85 - 200mm disc
ADT33099 for models built after 6/85 - 212mm disc

Thus only 1A's made up to 06/85 have a 200mm clutch.
