Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 turbo won't start/turn over at all.
Definitely no spark at all? Check for spark to the distributor with the king lead. Does the rev counter move when cranked? If you've got nO fuel pump and no spark then you could be looking at engine speed sensor, not sure how or where the speed sensor is taken from on the engine on these but there ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 turbo won't start/turn over at all.
After this afternoons tinkering I've finally got power going from. The ignition to the starter! Somehow the ST1 wire was live on one end of the switch and not the other. But with a bit of fiddling that seems to be working. But there is still no spark and after testing the fuel pump wiring under the ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 turbo won't start/turn over at all.
I had an immobiliser 'removed' a few years back, is it possible that is playing a part? Bypassing the ignition is fairly pointless, since the ignition circuits pass through the ignition switch and need to be energised in order for the car to work. The immobiliser is unlikely to be playing any part ...

Re: Car wont start after 7 months sitting! :(
Sorry to dig up an older thread.
But this problem seems similar to mine! Does anyone know if it was sorted?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 turbo won't start/turn over at all.
Firstly apologies for not following up this thread. Some personal matters have meant the car had taken a back seat, but now it is a priority again. My brother helped this evening and we started where we left off. But he decided to bypass the ignition and put the straight to the starter. The starter ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 turbo won't start/turn over at all.
There are two terminals on the starter: 1) Large M8 stud with main 12+VE cable and a smaller wire attached by ring terminals. Should always be battery live. 2) Brown spade terminal on front side of stater. Unplug, and should be 12+VE when key turned to cranking position. If both as above, and engin...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 turbo won't start/turn over at all.
I used a multi meter earlier and it appears that the starter is getting power. So is it safe to say that the starter is busted/seized? [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 turbo won't start/turn over at all.
Hi guys, bit of background info: Car has been sat around for about 6 months. A friend of mine disconnected the ignition wiring about 5 months ago as a few cars had been targeted around my area at the time and this was suggested as safety measure. Same friend then reconnected everything today. So I w...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Starter motor on the way out? Are they all the same? (Turbo&NA)
Upon starting my car car the other night I heard a clanging type noise from the engine bay and the car then appeared to run slightly lumpy.. I turnt it off straight away and checked the engine bay, it was dark so nothing was very visible, but I'm pretty sure I smelt a burning, electrical smell. I le...

Re: How do i stop 'goose honk' and make standard dumpvalve louder??
If you want to try it out you need to find the pipe that goes from the oem dump valve to your airfilter.(recirc pipe) Remove the pipe at the air filter end and bung the air filter end with something. Now you should be left with the pipe coming off the dump valve but its not attached to anything. Now...

Re: How do i stop 'goose honk' and make standard dumpvalve louder??
I've just pulled of the recirc pipe to the air filter.
Now the standard dump valve vents to atmosphere! Sounds decent enough.
Though I have heard that having the oem d/v venting to atmosphere doesnt do it much good
(I read it here I think) hence why a ssqv will be on soon.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Greddy Profec II settings
I tried it out today and it seemed to be working fine.... So the 'limiter' works by reducing the boost by a percentage (that you yourself set) if it exceeds the warning that you set?? Hopefully ^ that makes sense and maybe I just need someone local to Southampton to help me set it properly.....

[Mk2] [Turbo] Nurspec r flexi section gaskets? need one....
Just fitted the downpipe today and when taking the nur's flexi off the gasket on one end just fell apart. So it needs a new one. Any idea where I can get one? Everything is back together but it is 'blowing' ever so slightly where there is no gasket If not, is it possible to just make one out of card...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Gauges? Air/fuel, oil pressure etc
Well once my 3" downpipe is fitted then I've basically come to the end of my planned engine mods (just bolt ons) So got to find something else to keep me occupied with the mr2. So I was thinking about gauges, which I dont know alot about. I was thinking maybe air/fuel mixture gauge and oil gaug...

Re: Rev 1 turbo vs E36 M3
The GTti was a 993cc DOHC 3 pot Turbo, I owned 3 of them over 6 years before getting my MR2 Turbo. My last one, a JDM GTxx, had 160hp which gave it a better power to weight ratio than a stock Rev3+ Tubby. My GTxx would easily have matched my MR2 to 100mph or so and regularly embarrassed much more e...
