Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] engine compartment cooling fan warning light ....Question
I had a similar thing happen to my car on the motorway. The light came on, flickered for a while and then went. Ive never heard the fan running to be honest. I can imagine that the fan wouldnt work at all if the switch doesnt work. I put power to the fan an it does work. Is there a fuse or relay for...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Have I got rod knock / bearings on way out???
Thats what I thought big ends sounded like.
But what do you think this noise sounds like.
Its annoying because it sounds perfect 85% of the time

[Mk2] [Turbo] Have I got rod knock / bearings on way out???
Yet another strange noise ive found from this REV2 Turbo ive bought. I had the car idling on the drive, reving it and holding the revs every so often to get it up to temperature. Its running fine with no strange noises at this point. The gauge eventually gets up to running temp (needle in middle of ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 REV2 Engine reving and idle issue
Ive just been doing some searching and ive read somewhere that when you disconnect your battery (which I did while the car wasnt in use over the last week and while I was working on it) that the ecu will have to re-learn so would this explain my problem? Do I just have to drive it and it will re-lea...

Yep its firing on all 4, like It say it revs up smoothly.
Boost leak is a possibility, I will check the pipe work over tomorrow.
Any more suggestions?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 REV2 Engine reving and idle issue
I think it was a grey smoke, I carnt remember, will check tomorrow.
I checked the oil level and it was fine.

Do you think its the symtoms of a dodgey oxygen sensor?

[Mk2] [Turbo] MR2 REV2 Engine reving and idle issue
Ive just completed a full service on my mr2 turbo including oil, plugs, filter etc. Ive just started it up and noticed that if I hold the revs up to about 3k and let off, then the engine stuggles to idle for a few seconds and is back to normal. Also whilst reving it to 3k I notice a fair amount of e...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Water pump removal - why wont it come off????
Success!!! I levered the hard pipes at the rear again this morning and it released from the housing. The 'O' ring was pretty gunged up with mess so thats probably what was making it excessively tight. There was also a small pipe going to the oil cooler that I didnt know about that was attached to th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Water pump removal - why wont it come off????
Ohright, ok cheers for that mate :) The pump and housing are physically loose, you can wiggle it with your hand so that rules out it being corroded to the block. It can only be those pipes at the rear of the housing that are jammed, what do you recon? Ive tried putting a screwdriver inbetween the pi...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Water pump removal - why wont it come off????
Actually, part of the reason I wanted to get the whole lot off it one go was because ive mashed the crosshead screw
.
.
.
.oops.
In the manual ive got it says to take the pump and housing off in one go anyway.

Has anybody had trouble getting the housing off before??

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Water pump removal - why wont it come off????
Im not aware off a flat head screw under the pulley no.
I can see the cross head screw above the pulley which mounts the pump to the thermostat housing.
Is there another one?
