[Mk2] [Turbo] engine compartment cooling fan warning light ....Question

Post by RyanRs »

just started my engine after a long winded 20month build  and i have the 'Engine Compartment Cooling Fan Warning Light' lit up on my dash.

is this purely to tell me the IC fan is faulty / not connected? as it is infact not fitted...?

just want to make sure as the Sticky info on this warning light says :-

This light warns that there is a problem somewhere in the engine compartment cooling fan system.

If this light comes on while you are driving, slow down and take your vehicle to the nearest Toyota dealer or qualified repair shop for a repair.

NOTICE:
Do not drive over 37mph with the light on

seems quite serious from that text, but if it is just a warning for the IC fan, then its not a problem for me as i have a bmic.

how can i turn the light off?

Thanx
Ryan

yeah its simply that the fan isn't coming on when the temp gauge sees 70 degrees C in the engine bay or i imagine the fan isnt plugged in.

If your engine couldn't really on the water cooling to keep itself warm i would be worried.

You could remove the cooling fan ecu which is in the boot near the normal ecu or just remove the bulb :p

I know this is an old thread but my warning light has just come on and wanted some suggestions on what to do.
My cars been parked up for 3months and i just got it back on the road. After 15mins drive the light came on. The temp gauge didnt seem to be affected though..
I have a TRUST replacement cooler and i can hear it working. Does this mean i have a faulty temp sensor? Or could it be the fan comes on but isnt cooling the engine?

Help me please!!

I had a similar thing happen to my car on the motorway. The light came on, flickered for a while and then went. Ive never heard the fan running to be honest. I can imagine that the fan wouldnt work at all if the switch doesnt work. I put power to the fan an it does work. Is there a fuse or relay for the intercooler cooling fan??

I think there's a relay in the boot next to the ecu.

my light popped on the other day when i hit the limiter.......

i think its prob just a connection somewhere, as i have my engine lid fans and ic fan wired into a switch that works along side the stock lid sensor...
