Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can anyone recommend a bodyshop in Manchester area?

Had some work done on my golf at a place called tameside accident repair. Did a nice job of fixing my wheel arch up and the paint was blended well. Wasnt too expensive either.

It is in Ashton-Under-Lyne. can get you the number if you want?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] car insurance

No need for that When got policy i only insured the Golf with them. Did Have to promise to insure the MR2 with them when the policy that was under ran out. They charge you a pro-rata payment so that your renewal dates are the same and then can insure them for full year at same time Give them a ring ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] car insurance

You could try a multicar policy from Admiral or BeWise. I'm with admiral as i have Golf for my commute. They dont give you any no claims as such but they 'mirror your current for the new car. Effectively giving you a NCD. each year you dont claim you earn a years no claim So got 7 on MR2, Mirror'd 7...

[Mk2] [NA] Mongoose exhaust fitting now - help

Hi all, Having a mongoose exhaust fitted today as a replacement for the original system!! Car is a 91 rev1 (no cat) and was told that would just need the back box. Guy fitting it just rang me and said the old exhaust has an extra foot or so of pipe / box therefore the new system wont marry up. Do i ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Front Tyre Wear

As far as i am aware it is standard suspension set up. I dont think it looks as though it has been lowered.

apologies for ignorance but would tracking the fronts sort out the towing out?

[Mk2] [NA] Front Tyre Wear

Hi All, Had MOT done a week ago and was told that front tyres would need changing soon due to wear. When looked the inside 2 or 3 inches has worn completely but outside has 3mm of tread left. This is the same for both front tyres. I am assuming this isnt right and i should get even tyre wear? Have b...

[Mk2] [Generic] Dashboard Foam

Hi All,

Had the heater and fan on full this weekend and a lot of bits of foam seemed to be blowing out of the vents on the dashboard (the ones used to de mist windscreen)

Is this anything to be worried about? (is a 91 Rev1)

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Exhaust baffles

Cheers Slarty, Where abouts in the exhaust are the baffles? backbox? I ask as it seems like some of the vibrations can come from almost under the centre of the car, between the seats and under the centre storage box. Mechanic said heatshields were all fine ... looks like new shiny stainless exhaust ...

[Mk2] [NA] Exhaust baffles

Hi all,

I have a 91 na. Believe it has a standard exhaust.

I am getting a vibration / rattling noise when engine is revved to 3k plus. mainly noticeable when change up at these revs (on the over run)

Been told the baffles(?) have gone in the exhaust. Would this give thistype of noise?

Cheers

[Mk2] [NA] Vibration noise at 3.5k to 4k revs

Hi all Got a 91, mk2 rev1 na Getting a really odd noise when changing gear at about 3.5k revs. Sound is like something vibrating and slowly stopping (like when waggle a ruler on the end of a desk) ... takes about half a second to stop. Can hear the noise just about if you hold the revs in gear at 3....

Got a reasonable quote where they are gonna give me half my NCB towards new car.

Still more than i thought it would cost but worked out gonna be saving enough per year to cover the cost.

Thanks
