Re: Mines Black Box!

Not that it's much help, but I had a Mines ECU on one of my SCs, which looked totally different to that one - it was a full ECU replacement with its own vacuum pipes to monitor manifold pressure.

I'm sure someone has seen one of those before though...

Re: 20 valve engine conversion, help.

I've done the 20v silvertop conversion, so if you do go down that route, feel free to ask any questions. It was a few years ago though, so wiring loom changes have long been forgotten (I do remember someone offering a ready made loom for the conversion for a few hundred quid if you prefer to avoid t...

Re: max b.h.p. without forced induction?

All depends on the tester and the dyno set up to be fair. A lot of places get it wrong. A mate had a dynoed 130bhp 4age – yet in a straight line dig I left him for dead with my pathetic 118bhp. Well I trust my testers and their dyno 100%, unlike the crap that emanates from most RR operators (I know...

Re: max b.h.p. without forced induction?

As said above mine has been proven on a TAT dyno at 149bhp, so my personal experience is that the engine IS good for factory output figures. There could be several reasons why others aren't getting good power from the 20v... If the ECU doesn't see a speed signal from the instrument cluster it loads ...

Re: max b.h.p. without forced induction?

The 20v BT doesn’t make anything near the claimed factory output – 140 if you’re lucky. 150bhp with a remap and a conservative performance tune. I beg to differ; my totally standard 20v silvertop (even used the factory airbox in the boot) produced 149bhp - on a RR that I trust not to bull$h1t me on...

1987 Mk1 Supercharger in mica blue

I'll be putting my Supercharger on Ebay in the next day or two, but thought I'd put a note on here first to gauge any interest. It's a 1987 mica blue, standard apart from a Fensport pulley. Mileage shows as 96,772, although it previously had Km clocks in with around 193000 (120,000 miles). MOT Augus...

Re: Silver MK1 20v Silvertop

Well, with over 40 watchers on ebay I was surprised not to get a bid... Then again not only is it the worst time of year to sell a sports car; it's also a terrible time to sell a car full stop. I was at an auction yesterday where less than 25% of cars I watched reached their reserves... not somethin...

Re: Silver MK1 20v Silvertop

I'm going to sell this and one of the superchargers, then hoping to do a conversion on the other supercharger. Maybe a supercharged v6, although after the recent thread on here I'm liking the sound of a Celica 190 engine with forced induction... ;)

Re: Do you really need the cold start injector?

Just wait and see what Toyota want for a new cold start injector time switch though - ISTR they charge around £130! I considered adding the time switch to the starter circuit - I can't see any downside to having the fifth injector firing every time at startup - whether or not the coolant is too cold...

Re: My MK1 V6 Supercharged for sale!!!

This is exactly what I have planned for the supercharger in my garage... If I thought there was any chance of being able to buy this one without swiftly becoming single (I'm already at the limit with three mr2's; apparently our house looks like The Twits' ) I'd be there... Good luck with the ...

D'oh! Guess I'm used to the 20v and the superchargers having them

It's bizarre thinking about it, but I've actually never driven a standard mk1 na... Really must give one a go some day...!

Re: Do you really need the cold start injector?

No matter how cold your coolant the cold start injector will not fire for longer than IIRC 8 seconds, so should make no difference to your fuel economy.

Probably something else at fault, such as thermostat, lambda sensor, TPS or one of many other sensors!

Re: Silver MK1 20v Silvertop

It's very hard to find any definitive figures for the 20v engine, but the specs I have found that I'm most inclined to trust are those from the TRD Levin Bible which states 160PS (158hp) for the silvertop and 165PS (163hp) for the blacktop. Either way, I think a genuine 149hp is not a bad result :-)...

Silver MK1 20v Silvertop

For those who don't know this engine it's the 5 valve per cylinder 4AGE engine fitted to the JDM Corolla Levin. The outstanding features of this engine are independent throttle bodies and VVT as standard. The silvertop is the earlier of the two 20v engines, with 160bhp from the factory. I've had the...

Arrrggghhh... I never talked about the clutch being permanently engaged. Let me refer back to your earlier post... "I had an SC conversion for years running without an ABV. I've driven it with the SC clutch permanently engaged when i was faffing aroudn with it. It drove absolutely fine."

Re: uprated s/c pulley, idler set from fensport

Err, I had an SC conversion for years running without an ABV. I've driven it with the SC clutch permanently engaged when i was faffing aroudn with it. It drove absolutely fine. That was the point i was trying to make in my previous post. I appreciate the point you were trying to make in your post. ...
