For those who don't know this engine it's the 5 valve per cylinder 4AGE engine fitted to the JDM Corolla Levin.

The outstanding features of this engine are independent throttle bodies and VVT as standard.

The silvertop is the earlier of the two 20v engines, with 160bhp from the factory.

I've had the car dyno'd at 149bhp

(at a very reputable rolling road, so the figures can be trusted

- they show a maximum drivetrain loss of 16.75%, not the 37% I've seen quoted for another 20v MR2.

.

.

) which I think is realistic for an engine with over 100k km

(the only clue to mileage on the engine is a cambelt change at 100k km sticker).

I have the dyno plot and data with the paperwork for the car.

There is a fair amount of historical paperwork for the car, if not a full service history.

The car itself has done 125k miles, and is in good condition.

The only parts of the car that I needed to have replaced were the rear sill return sections, which were done last year.

One of the rear arches is showing a couple of spots of surface rust, but they are both sound, and better than most MR2s I've seen on the road!

There is a scratch on the nearside wing and a couple of scuffs to the paintwork, but otherwise the car is in great condition.

Aesthetically the car remains completely standard.

For blue interior lovers, I'm afraid I swapped the interior out for a black one

The gearbox is great

- no bearing noise and no fifth gear issues.

The engine looks as though it were designed to be in the car

(which I guess it was really, as it is a 4AGE block), with a couple of ancillaries moved around to fit.

The original airflow run has been retained, although I have a cone filter which the buyer is welcome to.

The engine sits on TRD mounts and has a stainless steel Magnex exhaust mated to the 20v downpipe flange

(this was made with enough length in the collectors that the flange can be cut and welded to a different exhaust system if desired).

Having taken the car to a Rockingham track day recently, I can confirm that the 20v engine really performs when it's being driven as it was designed, using the full rev range.

Not only that but the noise from the throttle bodies sounds awesome!

I think there were a few surprised faces from people who were expecting a standard 16v MR2!

The reason for sale is primarily because I'm currently using the car most days for work; I'm doing way more miles in it than I should be on a limited mileage policy and I doubt I could get business cover for the MR2 on my policy even if I tried.

All I want at the moment is a comfortable diesel with cruise control!

Plus there's the desire for space to get started on my next project.

The photo below was taken at Rockingham a month ago; once the weather clears up a bit Ill give it a clean and get some decent photos

(especially the engine bay)!

I'm looking for offers over

£2000, otherwise itll go into storage over the winter.
