Re: aftermarket steering wheel and boss/hub

Personally I like the 320mm wheel (same size as in an Elise, BTW). Really enhances the 'go-kart' driving experience. Although, I have to admit that it makes for a good biceps workout at parking speeds - especially with 205s on the front! The 320mm Momo Corse I had in one of my cars was slightly offs...

Re: Cambelt replacement quote

£612 for an alfa belt! bloody hell im specializing on the wrong make of car! I think you'd soon switch back to Toyotas after learning what Alfas can be like to work on! The cambelt change took 4.5 hours - and the guy knew what he was doing (he came recommended on the Alfa forums). I still own an MR...

Re: Cambelt replacement quote

in answer to the question i change them for £50 all in,thats me supplying the belt too,and it takes 40mins while you wait. Reading this almost made me cry. Just before xmas I sold my MR2 and bought a 2.0 litre Alfa 147. Just had the cambelt changed at an independent Alfa specialist (i.e. NOT a main...

Re: Retro Stereo *Stereo came today!*

The iPod interface that connects to the CD changer port is definitely the way forward. It gives you track/artist information on the head unit and the ability to navigate via the head unit, just as if you had a CD changer fitted. You can easily route the iPod connection into the glove box and keep yo...

Re: Aftermarket in green

wheels are too big and would look much better if they were black

Personally I think they're at least 2" too small and should be chromed, not black. In the words (or something like them) of West Coast Customs Alex, "If you wanna be pimped, you gotta have fat chrome."

Re: Aargh! Another T-bar rant.

Two things I did more or less cured my leaky t-bar roof. The first was picking away all the silicone sealant that the previous owner had smeared all over the roof in an attempt to stop it leaking. All this had achieved was to block the drainage channels at the top of the A-pillars, meaning that any ...

Re: aftermarket steering wheel and boss/hub

Hi - sorry I've taken a while to reply! If you're still interested I still have the boss. I bought it from Halfords where the guy told me it was a Mountney, but I can't see any markings on it. It should fit pretty much any aftermarket wheel; it certainly did the job with my Momo Corse, and I had no ...

I'll sell it for £20 + postage, if anyone wants it

Postage should only be a few quid, though.

Re: aftermarket steering wheel and boss/hub

Well, you can buy my spare boss with confidence: fit and function on my UK-based Mk1 were identical to that of the genuine Momo boss on my other SC back in NZ i.e. no modifications required and no problems with indicator cancelling.

Re: aftermarket steering wheel and boss/hub

Hmm, to me that wheel looks more like it belongs in something from the '60s than an MR2, but each to their own.

That boss is probably ok; if you're in any doubt contact the seller and make sure it's ok to return it if it doesn't fit.

Re: aftermarket steering wheel and boss/hub

I had a lovely 320mm Momo Corse wheel in my supercharger. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o271/MJWallace/87tbarSCinterior.jpg Haven't decided yet if I'll sell the wheel, but the boss is now surplus to requirements. It's a universal fit one, can't remember how much it cost - about £30 from Halford...

Re: alloy wheels

I was a bit confused in one of my earlier posts and thought HT was talking about fitting the Aerotech spoiler, not the standard Mk1a one. So you do need the one-piece air dam and you may indeed need to fill some holes in the lip of the wing where the factory Mk1b spoiler attaches, but no, you won't ...

Re: alloy wheels

What was the quality like btw?? Quality and finish is superb, with consistent GRP thickness, flawless surface finishing and good fit to the car (although I had to tease the front edge of the wings and corner aprons out a little bit for a perfect fit). It's a hell of a lot stronger than the factory ...

Mk1a and b grilles aren't interchangeable: the Mk1a grille is smaller.

Re: alloy wheels

I emailed proprietor John Foxton a while back and got a reply, but he wasn't keen to quote a price for shipping to the UK. I also got no response to my request for a discount for being a repeat customer, plus the fact that he's using a picture of my car on his website (mine was the second Mk1 front ...

Re: shaved moldings

I'm pretty sure the side rubbing strips are just stuck on with adhesive foam strips so no, removing them will not leave holes.

Take a look at my supercharger (it had no side mouldings or stickers at all when I bought it):

Re: New Plan - A good idea?

I sold a shabby white over silver SC for £1900 Hmm, makes me think I'm pitching my blue t-bar SC too cheap! (See MR2s for sale section). My car would be a great starting point for Chunky Monkey; top spec, great drive and an easy resto, with far less rot than your average UK MR2. I've had the car fo...

Re: Whiteline Anti-Roll Bars

ARBs do affect ride quality because they reduce a wheel's ability to react to a bump independently, so generally speaking, the trade-off for reduced body roll is a harsher ride. My burgundy car has uprated ARBs front and rear: 23.5mm front, 17mm rear. It's also running fairly firm adjustable TRD dam...
