shaved moldings

Anyone here ever shave ur side moldings? I'm almost ready to out the car on the road but i dont want ppl. to know its supercharged. I'm goin for the sleeper look. Anyone have pics of these cars with shaved side moldings?

not sure what you mean by `shaved` moulding can you explain a bit more ?

i pulled all the side moulding doobies off the feral before i repainted it, IMO looks much better.
i dont have access to before and after pics here at the moment though sorry.

The only obvious difference i would notice is the raised engine bay lid and the 'supercharger' graphics of course!
Sell the lid on fleabay (they are sought after by the engine swap guys) if you can squeeze everything under an NA lid.
Don't really know what you mean re: side bits, as they are the same as the later MK1b's..... (skirts and vents etc)

Not 100% but I think the kit was optional on N/A in the US but standard on the SC - hence the idea of removing it. One problem would be the holes left behind!

Ok. Wat do u mean by raised lid? Mine has the vents on the left side over the intercooler. not really "raised." I shaved the moldings on my Trans Am and it looks good. They were just held on my 3M automotive tape.

From what you ppl. are saying is that the moldings that go from the back wheel well then onto the door and the front fender are held on by watever that leave holes. I dont mean the ground effects.

See right below the vent on the rear qtr. The molding runs thru the door and fender. Then on the door on the molding it says supercharged. I dont want that. See nobody in my area knows i have this car, nor do they even realize that the car is a beast.

by moldings do you mean stickers? or decals? I've forgotton the best way to take these off, but I think a bit of heat to warm the sticky paste would help you

On my Trans Am the where plastic moldings that were held on by 3M automotive tape from the factory. To take those off i used 3M tape remover. Came out sexy. Anyhow the moldings on the MR2 are held on by metal peg like things?

The 'stripes' and 'supercharger' logo are just stuck on with something (3M or 3M'alikey i suspect). to remove these you're probably best to try a heat gun and peel them off (but maybe wait for someone who know's what they are doing! - maybe there is a better way).

The side skirts are held on with bolts - look under the skirt to see them.

Yea i dont think that link works. Anyhow, my car doesnt have the supercharged sticker on the door where yours is. Mine is on the moldings. I dont understand how if i look under the skirt how i will see the bolts. The molidings are on the qtr panel and doors about halfway down the car. Ill try to find a good pic and then ill edit an arrow to what i mean.

ahhh - i see...

If you just want the supercharger bit off, i guess that the 'supercharger' bit on the door is stuck on to your rubbing strips - you might be able to peel the supercharger bit off without pulling the rubbing strips off?
Otherwise - the rubbing strips will probably have pegs in - it won't look that nice if you pull them off...

I'm pretty sure the side rubbing strips are just stuck on with adhesive foam strips so no, removing them will not leave holes.

Take a look at my supercharger (it had no side mouldings or stickers at all when I bought it):

They are just stuck on but beware. I had to remove one of mine to treat some rust and found out that the car had had some paint with the trim in place. When I removed the trim the glue brought off some paint but worse was the obvious lip around the edge where the new paint was thicker. If you're going to take them all off you may well find that you need to respray the car to make it look right.
