Re: Ben's 5S-GTE Build
So a few weeks ago I cracked the Greddy exhaust manifold that's currently fitted to my MR2 again. This has been a constant problem since fitting it and has been welded back together and braced several times. The cracking was just too extensive to fix this time though. http://img.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: Ben's 5S-GTE Build
Actually, I got distracted with other projects so it's still way off being finished. :( I've still not quite decided what to do with the remote filter head yet. Finally started working on this again a few weeks ago, so some progress has been made. Main job that's been completed prior to the photos b...

Take one of the cam pulleys off.
Align the pulley inside the belt.
Then fit the pulley back on to the cam.

Re: Ben's 5S-GTE Build
Test fitted the new exhaust manifold today. All looks good except for interfering with the drivers side engine hook. Should be able to grind the bracket back slightly to gain clearance though. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/BWalden/20141018_1110321.jpg Think I did mention re-locating the oil...

Re: Ben's 5S-GTE Build
Not much work done on the MR2 or engine recently. Been distracted with my other project. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/BWalden/MR2/20140816_1613371.jpg I did manage to fit my geometry kit to the MR2, crimp the injector wiring connectors on to the engine loom, and get the loom on to the engi...

Can barely see where the sleeve ends and the block begins.

Yeah they're dry sleeves.

Re: Ben's 5S-GTE Build
Aiming for a nice reliable 450-500 bhp.

The sleeves are custom made for the block.

Should be very interesting.
Not heard of the early block cracking.
But couldn't find a 98+ block at the time.

Ben's 5S-GTE Build
I figured it's about time I started a project thread for this. Seeing as I'm now a year and a half into this build. :eye: I'll attempt to find all of the photos that I've taken, and post them here. The car's a 1992 Rev 2 Turbo that I've owned for 5 years. Here's it is, as it stood back when I bought...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] power
Regarding bolt, is this a rev1/2 only thing, or effect rev3+ too? It sounded like it's only 'potentially' an issue on rev1/2? No a/c on mine, so I imagine no bolt too, worth fitting one anyway even though I'm on a gen3? Ps, this topic maybe needs moving out this thread?? The bolt is there on all re...

Re: Help.. again..
The turbo vsv isn't required if you've got some other boost controller.
I've removed mine.
You won't have tvis with your car being a rev 3.

Re: Help.. again..
The circled fitting on the head is where the rev 3 catch can return hose connects to.

The blue hose looks like it should be connected to the turbo vsv or one of the other components under the inlet manifold.
Looks like you don't have any of those though.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev2 to Rev3 ECU Conversion PAS wiring
Finally had chance to get under the car and check this while I was changing my oil.

I have continuity between pin 13 and the knock sensor plug.

Guessing this means my knock sensor is naff and somehow my old ecu just didn't notice

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev2 to Rev3 ECU Conversion PAS wiring
Not to my knowledge. On that plug I've moved the PIM from 5 to 2, moved the FPR to 16, and run wiring for the MAT to 9 and 10. The IAT uses the THA and E2 wiring from the original MAF cable. Will check I've not loosened anything tomorrow. Where's best to check for continuity between? Pin 13 and the ...
