going to put a down pipe on mine and a carbon bootlid and then the weight saving effort will finish for me car should be about 1220kg then with a full tank its 1240kg at present

Thats interesting, so there is a definite theme going on here with the later revs getting heavier.

I will weigh my MK1a once I get it back as that should be the lightest MR2. It'll be interesting to see how it compares with my stripped out SC.

Mines a rev 1 hardtop, so theoretically the lightest rev, but it's got a/c. how heavy are you aiming for yours to be... under 1000kg, or is that going too far?

Well my MK1a is pretty stock with no weight saving reductions as its a road car, so it will be good to get a definitive base weight for what should be the lightest MR2. I think it will be somewhere between 1000- 1050kg but as you know its difficult to estimate these things. I'll be well impressed if its less than 1000kg.

So with a full tank, add 20 kg = 1280kg

So from Rev1 to rev 3 GT turbo, it gained 50kg'sT bar perhaps?
I think my wheels and skirts add a few kgs as well

Trying not to be pedantic but 41litres of fuel (don't MK2s have a 60l tank?) weight is around 30kgs so reckon you could add 45ish kgs for a full tank of fuel of 60l.

no mk2s have wee 40 litre tanks, filling at needle empty but before warning light i get 34-35 litres in at fill up. Which i'd have thought is right as at warning light you should have say a gallon left so 20 ish miles

It really is the easiest thing to go and do. Just go to your local weighbridge, pay £2-3 drive on and thats it, takes about 30secs.

Are you sure Lauren?
If I run my car to when the light has been on for say around 15 miles, I can get nearly 50 litres into the car. I filled up the other day and got 46.36 litres in, and the light had only been on for 4-5 miles constant, with the needle at the bottom white mark
