Active / passive speakers verification (which ISO?)

Post by DaveyC »

Trying to fit a headunit at the mo. thought it was simply a case of getiing a ISO connector and bang in it goes, but apparently there are 2 or 3 types just for active toyota systems. my car is a rev3 turbo, so it must have had one of those active things at some stage, altohugh the previous owner has had quite a hefty instal before, so im thinkin he ripped that out, theres no headunit, no speakers, no amps, no subs-nowt.
so my question- will i need an active or passive ISO connector, considering my setup is neither active or passive its just...erm...nothing!

the monkies at halfrauds say they dont do Iso Connectors for imports. what a load of bol locks!

so whixh do i need and how can i tell the differences
cheers

the headunit is a kenwood

Hi Dave,

Given that you may have something a bit special on your hands I'd be inclined to head down to a good Car hif shop. they always seem to have guys ripping trim apart out the back fitting stereos. I'd ask them for a quote to get it working and discuss what they would do. Place down the road from me wanted £40 to fit a head unit - which as a last resort I didnt think was too bad. Those blokes normally are very helpfull and will give you some indication of what you need to do. Sorry I cant help more.
