[Mk2] [Generic] 30 milli amp drain from the Door Fuse - is that normal?
Hi, I'm trying to work out the cause of my 2 having a flat battery after being left for 2 week without being driven - I was on holiday. I've recharged the battery and began looking at the current drain on it. I have a total drain of 60 milliamps (20mA is my aftermarket alarm) and 30mA is going throu...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Getting the Water pump housing out
Thanks for taking the time to reply. After more trying I realised you do have to remove the exhaust cam sprocket to remove a bolt which will give you enoigh of a bend in the tinware to get the water pump housing out. Getting that sprocket off needed an air impact gun. So for the benifit of anyone se...

[Mk2] [NA] Getting the Water pump housing out
Hi, I have a rev3 uk car and need to replace the o-ring between the water pump and the engine block as its weeping after I last replaced the water pump cover. I've got all the bolts and the two nuts from the coolant bypass pipes off and can wiggle the housing a bit but it looks like its catching on ...

[Mk2] [Generic] Water Pump Bolts
I'm currently replacing the water pump on my rev3 UK car and have mixed up the bolts positions. There are two types of bolts used, a pair which have a short unthreaded part at the tip and are brass coloured, and 3 which look like standard bolts. Would i be right in thinking that the pair with the un...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Winter Tyres
Thinner tyres might be an idea. Would help you in snowy conditions. I've put 205/60/15 on the standard rear wheels and so far they seem good. Far better traction in the wet than my 235/40/17 summer tyres. Havent had snow to try them in yet, but I'm confident they'll be a huge improvement over wide ...

That red L reg was me.
I'm normally on that route around that time on a Monday night.
I've also seen a few around Apsley over the last few weeks.

Re: Should I replace the piston? - Updated
[quote="monkeymax"]I ordered the pistons from Brakes International and opened them up this afternoon, noticed they're not correct!!! The internals of the pistons were different to the actual ones off the brakes off the car. So they wouldn't screw onto the caliper. Now I realise that...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Water pump removal - why wont it come off????
If its the same as the 3SGE you don't need to take off any pipes or the housing itself. Just that cross head screw and a few bolts around that area and the pump will pull away from the housing. Be carefull with that screw as its easy to mash the head and then you end up having to get a flexible dril...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] low cylinder compression
Get a feeler gauge to check the valve clearance with. If the gap hasnt been maintained over the years, the valves will not be able to fully close, so you don't get compression. It'll be the exhaust valves that show this first. Also as they arent getting to sit back into the head, they wont have the ...

Re: [All] [Turbo] Removing Crank pulley
The BGB shows the use of 2 screwdrivers, so thats how I did it on mine.
Hardest part is locking the crank still to get the pully bolt undone.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] HEAD off again!!! Any ideas??????
Did you use new head bolts when putting it back together?
I dont know if the MR2 uses them, but most head bolts are a 1 use only.
Called Torque to Yield
(TTY) bolts, and its a way of ensuring even clamping pressure across the head.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] REV3 Sump removal
I did this a weeks ago on my rev3 na to change the oil pump. The 2 allen bolts are the only ones that are hidden. The rest can be seen if you have a good look. Don't forget the 3 or 4 around the rubber bung that run horizontaly into the bell housing. After that its probably just the sealant keeping ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] sticking throttle
I had the same problem back in Jan. Before you play with any adjusting screws, take of the air intake pipe from the throttle body. Slide your fingers in to where the throttle buterfly seats and see if its bunged up. I found it was sitting into a lip of crud. I sprayed a load of intake cleaner into i...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Funny Idle problem
I'd start by looking for a poor earthing connection somewhere- thats often worth checking. have you got a multimeter? Next would be to check what voltage is shown at the battery when the engine is warmed up and running at 400rpm, then check voltage when you switch lights on. It may be the regulator/...
