Re: Full Boost then Low Boost?!
Okey so, i checked for error codes. None at all! :thumleft: Unless the knock sensor is causing the issue but the error is not coming up? Did a quick check of the turbo, just took the intake pipe off and had a little poke with my fingers, there is no play in the shaft at all \:D/ soooooo.. im guessin...

Re: MR2 Rev2 Boosting issues
It turned out all the plumbing was fine, the actuator was getting caught on the downpipe.
Sometimes staying stuck open and sometimes closing.
Thats the reason for temperamental boost.
Swapped the ebay special downpipe for a standard one with gutted cat

Fingers crossed the new MBC will sort it

Going to take it to Pacific Works on Saturday anyway.

Just no fun without boost

Re: MR2 Rev2 Boosting issues
Im guessing if there is no tension in the spring there wont be any boost?

And if I had a boost leak, would I still be producing the correct amount of boost?

Re: MR2 Rev2 Boosting issues
I have tried unhooking the vacuum hose from the sender and plugging that.
Didnt make a difference.

I have ordered myself a new MBC.
I do hope thats the issue.

I never thought an MBC could drop the boost pressure to below standard?

Re: MR2 Rev2 Boosting issues
Should I unplug the vacuum hose from the sender and block that off with a screw? Since I don't have the stock vacuum hose anymore.

Re: MR2 Rev2 Boosting issues
The MBC was fitted before and was totally fine, this has all started since the gauge was fitted.
I have even fastened the vacuum hoses with cable ties.

I have tried adjusting the MBC but but it doesn't make a difference.
Boost is still being temperamental

MR2 Rev2 Boosting issues
Ever since i got a boost gauge fitted, my car is struggling to boost, sometimes it will hit full boost but then as soon as I change gear it either doesn't boost at all or only reaches around 5 psi.
Boost seems to be very temperamental.
I also have an MBC

Any ideas?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Weird noise under boost :(
Will have a look over the weekend

I got a new turbo fitted a few weeks ago so I doubt it could be a manifold to turbo gasket issue.

To check for a boost leak do I just check all the piping for any splits or loose jubilee clips?

Patrick

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Weird noise under boost :(
Okey brilliant! Wasnt sure if there could have been any other sneaky reason.
.
.
I will get it checked out and withhold from using any boost for now.

Cheers!

[Mk2] [Turbo] Weird noise under boost :(
A few days ago I noticed that when my car hit boost I could hear a strange high pitched whistle as well as the turbo spooling. I have a sneaky suspicion it is some sort of boost leak. Maybe a tiny split in one of the boost pipes? But I dont noticed a drop in boost. Anyone have any ideas what could c...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] No boost!!
Oh so might be an even easier solution! I will check the intercooler hoses tonight.
What else might cause it from not boosting?

[Mk2] [Turbo] No boost!!
Last Friday I revved the car hard in second gear and suddenly I lost all boost.
Yesterday I checked all vaccum hoses, none had come loose or split.
Then I revved the car and on let off i heard a little pshhh coming from the actuator.
.
.
Could the actuator maybe be stuck open?

Re: Jap car UK dials
Ahhh that seems simple enough thanks! Could I also swap over the speedometer since it goes to 160mph instead of 100mph? Also the mini boost guage doesn't work however the other dial cluster has a voltage meter.
Is that a simple swap as well?

Jap car UK dials
Currently my Rev counter doesn't work. So I bought another 160mph dial cluster however it doesn't work at all. Only the handbrake indication light comes on but nothing else works. Then I had a look on the back of the dials and the connections seem to look a little different. Im guessing that's due t...

Hand Brake light not turning on?!
Basically recently I realised my turbo timer wasnt working, checked the wiring, everything was fine.
Then i noticed when i pulled the hand brake up the dash light didnt turn on.
What could cause this?! failed sensor?
