[Mk2] [Turbo] Weird noise under boost :(

A few days ago I noticed that when my car hit boost I could hear a strange high pitched whistle as well as the turbo spooling. I have a sneaky suspicion it is some sort of boost leak. Maybe a tiny split in one of the boost pipes? But I dont noticed a drop in boost.

Anyone have any ideas what could cause this?

I think your spot on .. well worth checking buddy .. as for no loss in boost pressure the turbo will just work harder if its only a small leak ... not good for the turbo

Okey brilliant! Wasnt sure if there could have been any other sneaky reason... I will get it checked out and withhold from using any boost for now.

It could defiantly be something else and normally is lol .. i had a blow of valve pop and it sounded like a high pressure airline spraying bit of a whistle .. so you symptoms sound similar, could be wrong though

Manifold to turbo gasket failing would cause this, could be just loose, closed until increase in back pressure causes high pressure exhaust gasses to pass

Agreed .. high pressure exhaust gasses or boost leak could be your problem ... get stuck in and sort it

Will have a look over the weekend
I got a new turbo fitted a few weeks ago so I doubt it could be a manifold to turbo gasket issue.
To check for a boost leak do I just check all the piping for any splits or loose jubilee clips?
