Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Currently my Rev counter doesn't work. So I bought another 160mph dial cluster however it doesn't work at all. Only the handbrake indication light comes on but nothing else works. Then I had a look on the back of the dials and the connections seem to look a little different. Im guessing that's due to my car being an import and dials from a UK car?

Quite possibly, yes. You can open them up and swap the internal components over though. So your solution is probably to fit the working tachometer into your original combination meter.
Ahhh that seems simple enough thanks! Could I also swap over the speedometer since it goes to 160mph instead of 100mph? Also the mini boost guage doesn't work however the other dial cluster has a voltage meter. Is that a simple swap as well?

Yes, you can swap the speedo in. Bear in mind if you do that, your odometer will them be reading in miles, not kilometers.
The voltmeter will fit in place of the awful stock boost gauge, but there's a couple of extra steps need to make it work correctly. There's a HOWTO on MR2OC: http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2-know ... bartid=273
If you have an early MK2 your boost gauge probably doesn't work because someone has disconnected the pressure sensor in the engine bay to remove fuel cut

It's probably more reliable. There are a few wiring differences and a couple of warning lights that one car has that the other doesn't (and visa versa)
