Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Standalone Ecu recommendations

Plenty map on the AEM, the software is free so it's no hardship to get hold of. Plenty of help available on there forums etc. If you can get an AEM at the right price it would be worth it.

Re: Chargecooler - opinions and reviews

How are you planning on mounting the thermocouple lead? would you get away of slipping it under a silicone hose and clamping over the top? That was the plan, someone said to me put it through with a thin straw the but I don't think that is a good idea. Given the size of the wires I think it will se...

Re: Chargecooler - opinions and reviews

Yeah I'm good on the clutch , pistons etc. My injectors are only 800's so I may need to go larger for 500. Baby steps 300 at the wheels is quite exciting at the moment.

Re: Chargecooler - opinions and reviews

I'll have to find out what temp's they were getting when they mapped it. Saying that I've got a thermocouple I could run through and see for myself. I'm running a Precision 5558 turbo. How are you planning on mounting the thermocouple lead? would you get away of slipping it under a silicone hose an...

590 according to the specs.

I'm aiming for around 400bhp and not too much lag. Getting a quote for a cc as I don't have the time to do it myself.

Re: Chargecooler - opinions and reviews

I wondered what CC you had Martin. I'd toyed with the idea of that one myself but didn't know if the ebay special would be any good. I'm stuck at 300rwhp with the one o bought off you. Which at the time of purchase was my goal but now I'm forged I want more.

Re: Petrol

I meant if he's struggling to get 99 Ron then add a small amount to make it 99 Ron. That's why I put the calculator up. I have to agree it could be a pain to keep adding octane booster everytime you fill up, it was only an idea. If it's mapped on 97 he may see less power but at least it's easy to ge...

Re: Petrol

You could always add a bit of toluene or something similar to boost your octane level.

Re: Petrol

Personally I use V power but I know my car was mapped on 97 Ron as the petrol station next to the garage only has that. Slightly annoying as I'm sure I said use v power. They ran the car in on the dyno for me so I guess they just used the closest petrol station for ease. On the flip side I know what...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 Turbo - Gizzmo IBC-V3

As you have a rev 2 I'd play it safe and set gain low about 5 and start around 50% on the duty cycle. The ibc will display what boost you hit. If you hit fuel cut adjust down and if you done get high enough increase the duty cycle or gain slightly.

Thanks guys, that has helped me out I'm not in a rush so I'll wait and see what comes up. I'll wait until autumn and enjoy what little summer we are going to have.

Respray and possible bodynamic kit

It may be pie in the sky at the moment but I believe I may have some funds to spend on a respray on my tubby post the engine rebuild. Talking to a friend of a friend who does bodywork for a living he said he hates aftermarket body kits as they never fit. I can probably get mates rates if I don't mes...

I'd check your coil pack as these can crack and be affected by the cold and moisture.

Re: Power steering fault

I think this is a relay issue, I had this once a while ago. Turn the ignition on and off at least 20 times and hopefully this will cure it. If this fails try a new relay.

Re: Simply Gym Runcorn, red mk2 rev 1 with Toms air scoop

I can't be 100% sure but at the time I was thinking I'm sure mine was on the opposite side when I had one fitted. It was a uk car and I've only ever seen them fitted on turbos before.
