[Mk2] [NA] What a Pain Lambda Sensor Removal
Got my new lambda sensor today, so thought I would have a go at getting the old one off. Well i decided even though I had the car jacked up there was no easy way for me to access the two nuts to remove the sensor, it seems for everything on the twos you need ET fingers to get at everything. So i hav...

Re: Rare exhaust?? What have you got?
My NA has a Stainless Janspeed exhaust & Japspeed Decat, not too loud, has a throaty sound then you give it some. I remember my mate had a full powerflow system on his Import Rev1/NA and it sounded awesome, would love to of had it, he sold the whole car for £350 after crashing it (still drivable...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Should engine check light illuminate when ignition is switched on?
Glad it hasn't been tampered with deliberately anyway. My dad bought a Vauxhall Omega a couple of years ago and somebody'd stuck a bit of tape over the ABS warning light so you couldn't see it on the dash. 4 new wheel sensors and about 20 hours of labour later, he wasn't at all pleased. Yeah I woul...

completely forgot about immobiliser, all working now.

I believe I got error code 21
(two flash pause one flash)
which is the O2 sensor signal, So I think its a safe bet to buy a new one.

I believe I got error code 21

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Low Idle, Temp Guage not Working Properly
Check for ECU error codes. If the lambda sensor is faulty it will produce a code. A knackered ECU temp sensor would cause it to run rich but only until it's reached normal operating temperature. If the ECU temp sensor has failed the car would run like a dog until it was warm. Does your car reach no...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Should engine check light illuminate when ignition is switched on?
Did you just buy the car? Removing the "check engine" and "check ABS" warning lights is one of classic "dodgy dealer" tricks. bu88er ](*,) How Do I go about checking this, Is there a fuse??? could it just be the bulb? or something else, where about's is it on the dash ...

[Mk2] [NA] Should engine check light illuminate when ignition is switched on?
When I turn my ignition on, should the engine check/fault light illuminate or not? When I turn my ignition on I dont see it illuminate just wondering if there is a fuse for the bulb or it is not meant to light up. is the engine diagnostics port (E1 TE1) the one in the engine bay on the drivers side ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Low Idle, Temp Guage not Working Properly
Hi all, Been busy today I fitted my new JapSpeed Decat pipe, As I believed the cat to be severly blocked an thus causing the loss of power and misfire. I also got round to changing the thermostat, old one was totally goosed. Even with the new parts fitted the engine still appears to be running very ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Low Idle, Temp Guage not Working Properly
anyjoy mate? I did not get time to fit thermostat, but also looks like I have knackered the cat by driving it with the stuck open thermostat (constantly running rich/idle fueling) So I have ordered a stainless decat pipe from flea bay and hopefully get it fitted at the weekend. Will keep you up to ...

[Mk2] [NA] Is My Catalytic Convertor Bust?
As per another topic I had a problem with the car (Mk2 Rev3 NA import) not warming up and staying on choke I believe due to a stuck open thermostat, I had to drive the car like this on what seemed constant cold fuelling for approximatley 80 miles. The fuel economy was appalling used half a tank of f...

Good Garage In North East of England?
Hi all just wondering if anyone knows of a good garage in the North/ NorthEast to do a bit work on my mr2 mk2 NA Rev 3. I think I will need a new clutch fitted and a full service (similar to service 4 from Rogue) Also trying to find standard size tires to fit the rear wheels been quoted approx £86 f...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Low Idle, Temp Guage not Working Properly
Do you have wet carpets under your mats... passenger side? Or if not can you get under the car to look for coolant leaks... particularly near the fuel cell. First thoughts through my head... 1) thermostat... get to an affiliate and swap it for a known good one, run the car and presto, it'll solve i...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Low Idle, Temp Guage not Working Properly
Where are you based mate?.... Can you get it to an affiliate for diagnostics? If it's head gasket I reckon you'll see mayo in the oil filler cap. It could be air in the system effecting the gauge but it would do it fairly regularly on a long run I would have thought not just when sitting. Could be ...

[Mk2] [NA] Low Idle, Temp Guage not Working Properly
Hi all, I went out in my mr2 rev 3 NA today done a 2 hour motorway journey no problems. I then stopped on my drive, the car (just bought) seemed to be idling lower than it had about 700rpm rather than 900rpm. So i thought try some fuel system cleaner and a tank full of Shell Optimax fuel. It still s...
