Re: [Mk2] [NA] Won't start in damp - tried everything we can think of.. desperate!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Got a pm from Paul@Woodsport and he diagnosed that the problem was a duff coilpack without even seeing the car!

What a guy! \:D/

I now have my motor back and it is now driving better than ever.

Am well happy!

[Mk2] [NA] Won't start in damp - tried everything we can think of.. desperate!

My motor has been in the garage for a few weeks now and I'm posting this in the hope that anyone on this board can give us any pointers. It cut out on me on the motorway - not raining hard - mainly spray - and I managed to get it damp-start the plugs twice and get it back to the garage. Have been pr...

Re: My 2 is Officially Old.....

Got my M reg n/a 3.5 years ago with 70k on the clock. It now has 145k. It's picked up a few paint chips from gritters over the years but it still looks great after a good polish. Over this time, it has been completely reliable and still feels as good to drive as it did when I got it. And when I walk...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] What were toyota thinking when they made the mk2

they stopped production because it was a hair dressers car ;) LOL, yeah, the guys at work tried ripping me about buying a hairdresser's car when I got my mk2 n/a. It didn't really last long as it so obviously isn't.. Have had mine exactly 3 years to the day. (It got the full polish treatment yester...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Reliability??NA or turbo

In my view it all boils down to economics. I would love to have a tubby but I'm doing over 25k miles a year in my N/A and I can't afford the running costs. Yes, my N/A a little disappointing off the blocks but the car looks so good and handles so well on bends and roundabouts that I forgive it. It's...

Re: 13,000 miles since 29th april!!!

I've done 40k since May 2005. That takes me to 110k. At my current mileage I will have finished paying for it by the time it has done 150k. If I get another 40k out of it after that I should have saved a few bob towards the next motor..

That's the plan anyway. It won't work out that way though!

Re: holly molly!! (to put it cleanly), anyone seen this vid???

Christ Almighty! That's one hell of a smash. That bloke is lucky to be alive. Good to see he still has his sense of humour (the "t-cut" line was a belter!) and he is up and about, drinking beer etc. It just goes to prove that you can be the best driver in the world but you can never vouch ...

I agree. They should be publicly horsewhipped and their plaintive cries recorded on a cameraphone for the enjoyment of everyone on this board.

What's going on there ptapta? Have you pi$$ed someone off or is it just a case of car envy? Do you know if it was kids or adults?

Re: wiper arms/blades?

Yeah I got a couple of new wiper arms from Toyota as mine were rusty and if I had tried to sand them down and spray them they would have looked like an O level metalwork project gone wrong. (Something I have had considerable experience of.)

Not cheap though. I seem to remember parting with over £70!

Re: Still lovin' the MR2!

Yep, I've had my N/A for 14 months and almost every one of the 30k miles I've done have been pure pleasure. I say almost as in that short time I have been hit twice by other cars, reversed off my drive into the neighbour's motor and skidded off the road in snow and hit a bush. That's more action tha...

dawolf,

RE: your Nankangs
Were you doing much mad wheel-spinny stuff with yours or were you just raking about with revs and taking the odd high-speed roundabout, like I do?

Re: How long do YOUR tyres last?

That's odd. I've had cheapo Nankangs (steady Lauren!) on my N/A for 14 months. Done 30k miles. Replaced the rears after 25k and the fronts are down about 50%.

Okay, so most of my driving is in a straight line down the motorway but I don't drive like a gay. Honest!

Re: Before And After Pics. (Front End Pic Added - Page 1)

Yes indeedy, your motor is looking sweet once again. It always amazes me how quality bodyshops turn a crunch into perfection. I've had mine in 3 times over the past 12 months for minor stuff (mostly not my fault I might add!) and it always comes back in absolutely pristine condition. (My lot even sa...

Re: average selling price of a uk rev3 na?

If you budget on getting £2k for your motor then you won't get caught out. Without knowing your car, I'd probably stick it up for £2600 and let them beat you down a couple of hundred.

Re: attention from other drivers

I think noise has a lot to do with it. Before I replaced the air filter I used to get a few admiring glances and "Nice car!" shouts from kids but these days all I seem to get is vaguely annoyed looks as I blat my way through the village. Still, I couldn't give a chuff what anyone else thin...

Re: BTM in a blizzard at 4:30pm this afternoon

I have checked the paintwork and it I have a scuff on the passenger wing and a couple of light scratches on the bonnet. Nothing that won't t-cut out I reckon :D On a brighter note, I'm off to get a de-cat tomorrow! Am looking forward to feeling a bit of a difference.. not much, I know.. but a...

BTM in a blizzard at 4:30pm this afternoon

Definitely cashed in a "luck credit" this afternoon. Got a flyer from work in York this afternoon as I had seen it had been snowing heavily for about an hour. Was heading out of town doing about 20mph, leaving 15 yards between me and the car in front. There was about an inch laid but there...

Re: [Mk2 NA] Decatted Today!! :-)

I was kinda holding off de-catting until I drove the missus' new X-reg 1.7 Puma at the weekend. The bloody thing is nippier than my NA and I'm not having it. Add to that, the guy who MOT'd my motor drove it to his workshop and then told my brother-in-law afterwards that it "wasn't very good at ...
