testing resistor pack??? which end??

Post by jimGTS »

started testing, but not sure if ive done it correctly, wondering if someone could tell me whether i should be testing the female end of the plug, that has wires going to the harness, or i should be testing the resistor end of the plug, that has male ends of the plug??????

help?

jim is this the injector resistor pack? the plug on the engine harness going to the pack has 5 wires, one is a live 12v feed and the other 4 are going to the injectors, check the black/red wire going to the pack is 12v when the ignition is on and then with the plug connected stick a pin into the four wires going to the injectors and check them for voltage too...if you arent getting the correct output voltage then your pack has failed. To be honest ive never heard of one breaking down so its more likely to be the B/R supply wire thats the problem.

Morning jim

sorry about last night was out chilling from fitting coilovers.

Any how. Ok have checked out my personal manual that i am writing and you deffo need to test the resistor end of the plug as stated in BGB (see below), if you tested this as shown and you dont get any resistance back then you have a problem.

If you get a resistance back then we need to check that there is continuty between the ecu and injectors so if you look at the ecu layout for a rev2 (see below) The one end of the multimeter will need to go to the E01 and the other will need to go to one of the pins on injector clip just test each one until you get a reading out of the 2 for the approiate cylinder. Then Move along for each cylinder ie E02 then injector clip for that cylinder etc. This is first i would check as read in other post about running on one cylinder.

The next step then would be continuty between resistor pack and injector clip. see diagram below to do this.

No need to check the B+ wire as you know its got power as it wouldn't start other wise.

hey Jim, you'll have the ECU today
Sorry, but I couldn't sort you the ignitor :(

First thing i did was pull each lead off which showed that cylinder one was down. The lead was firing so i plugged one of jims old injectors into the cyl one connector and it wasnt working.
The connector has 12v feed
The signal wire has continuity from the ecu pin to the connector
Supplying earth to the ecu pin with the ignition on fires the injector
Supplying the correct pulse width and duty cycle using our tool brings the cylinder back.

Diagnosis is that the injector driver has died on the power fc, there is absolutely no output from the power fc on injector 1.

Hey jim just read this. if all this was done then nothing is wrong with restitor pack or any of wiring etc.

Deffo down to ecu then
