Windscreen Replacement

Post by Nic »

My windscreen is badly marked from years of use, does anyone know roughly how much it'd cost to have it replaced?

May still cost you £75 Nic to cover the excess but worth it for a clearer screen during the winter and peace of mind on the old MOT.

Who are you with? My windscreen is the same, covered in tiny scratches all over and I'd really like a new one.

I had mine done a couple of months ago through admiral. Only cost me £50 iirc :-k

Made a huge difference and I thoroughly recommend looking into it :thumleft:

Double triple check the tint on the glass before they fit it - if you have an older import you want bronze tinted glass and I was told this is Toyota only when I had my screen replaced. I think it cost the insurance company the best part of £700!

My screen is bronze tinted with a slightly darker strip along the top, spoke to Auto Glass to book the fitting, they checked and had the correct screen in stock.

Well that screen didn't last long! The new screen has developed a 250mm crack up from the lower seal on the drivers side. On inspection, there is a tiny impact mark where the screen is bonded which has caused the crack. New screen getting fitted today.

Sorry to jump on the back of this but I have a crack theat keeps opening up and was thinking of going through my insurance.

Only worry is that my screen is import with the radio antennae in it and tinted?

Do you think they would do this or is it a case of me being pro active and telling them which screen i need?

Dont want to get screwed over when they find out which screen it is so havnt bothered with it yet!

Mine's a Rev3 Turbo import with a bronze tint and radio aerial, they replaced it (again!) with an identical screen, just had to pay the £75 excess. That was with Autoglass, they specifically asked me what colour tint it had and whether it had an aerial when I booked the fitting.

Probably worth saying that the rev3 turbo never actually came with the inbuilt aerial (rev1 only I think), but it seems to be the only bronze screen the Insurers will order for some reason. They are using toyota OEM glass so you could ask them to order the correct screen (bronze, no aerial) if you can find out the part no.
