EOR - the modified 3.0 V6 Quad Cam 1MZ-FE VVTi for sale

Post by KarlBristol »

I said that I would never do this but after a lot of consideration and a heavy heart I have come to the decision that I am going to list EOR for sale. This wasn’t an easy decision to make but a necessary one I feel.

Currently she is used as a commuter car and the area around my work is turning into residents only parking so I wouldn’t be able to use her for commuting unless I pay for private car parking which currently stands at £1700 a year. I can’t afford this so in turn this means I’m turning back to motorbikes (as parking is free), and the car would end up dry stored as I can’t afford to run two vehicles. I don’t really want this beautiful car sat unused in a garage. Plus if I sell her it gives us the opportunity for my partner to go part-time when little one finally arrives (he is currently massively late!)

I’ve put so much time, effort and money into her that it seems only fair for her to be out on the roads and enjoyed. I am therefore offering her up at a ridiculously low price for forum members to help encourage you lot

If she doesn’t sell before the 13th January then I will get a rebate on the 5 months tax and my insurance and dry store her.

I have invested over £20,000 in this car and for a speedy, painless sale I am only asking £5,200. This is over £3,000 less than I roughly value her at, and is even significantly less than my agreed value policy with my insurance company. Yes… my engine work alone pretty much cost my asking price! In short it’s a bargain.

So what’s the spec….

- 1991 H reg SW23 Moonroof and spoilerless.
- Originally a 3SFE chassis so it’s the lightest of all revisions
- No ABS, traction control or power steering; a proper drivers car!
- Full original service history. Including the original sales pack
- Recent MOT (off the top of my head I think its got 9-10 months remaining)
- Roughly 5 months of tax
- Retrofitted with a large custom V6 VVTi, 1ZZ LSD, stainless steel exhaust system guaranteed for life, and a new rev5 gearbox
- Full V5 which shows the car accurately as a 3 litre
- A box of receipts, manuals and brochures (and I don’t mean a small box!!)
- TOAD alarm and immobiliser with spare key and fob
- Car has always been garaged and covered and gets washed, polished and waxed at least every other week

Within the past 2/3 years the vehicle has had the following (this is only what I can remember and is in no particular order):

- Front bumper smoothed out
- Front number plate re-located
- Full frontal re-spray
- Both sills had the rot cut out and were professionally fabricated by a classic car specialist/restorer
- Brand new Toyota suspension all around
- Brand new Toyota suspension top mounts
- Brand new Toyota bezel cups and rubbers
- Brand new PI Racing drop springs
- Brand new TFS adjustable drop links all around
- Fully waxoiled underneath
- Undertrays all present and the bolts drilled out and replaced with stainless
- All dents professionally removed from the car
- Brand new Toyota brake callipers
- Brand OEM brake discs
- Brand new OEM pads
- CUSCO brake stopper
- HEL braided brake hoses
- Brand new custom brake lines
- CUSCO front strut brace
- Custom engraved spec plate in the frunk
- Custom detailed and installed 1MZ-FE VVTi 3.0 V6 engine, which underwent a full strip down and rebuild. It didn’t want for a single part.
- Aftermarket air intake
- Stage 2 SW20 Turbo clutch
- Fully refurbished Rev5 low mileage gearbox
- 1ZZ Quaife Helical LSD
- HKS blue engine earthing kit
- Tubby engine lid
- Rogue dual engine lid fans fitted with SPALS
- Isolator switch with chrome base plate for the engine bay fans
- UBER RARE JDM Wind-deflectors with clips intact
- Folding colour-coded mirrors
- UBER RARE JDM Lexan blinds with clips intact
- Braided Goodridge clutch hose
- Custom LED boot light
- LED number plate lights
- Smoked side repeaters with chromed bulbs
- Smoked sidelights with chromed bulbs
- Brand new clear headlights
- Wolfie fitted rear indicator sections (fitted by Wolfie himself)
- USDM rear red triangles which are wired up as sidelights with ultra-bright LEDs
- Full set of OEM moulded mudflaps
- Rear cross brace and custom rain tray
- Brand new alternator
- Brand new battery
- Man in dandism mats
- Custom drop plate and short shift kit
- Leather Celica VVTi steering wheel
- Chrome handles inside
- Chrome door shut plates
- Rear pressed metal number plate
- Full interior Stoney Racing LED swap over (speedo, domes lights, etc…)
- Celica gearknob custom covered in leather by Rhon
- Alcantara gear gaitor surround
- Alcantarta cubby box
- Rev3+ wiper upgrade with new Bosch Super plus spoiler wipers
- Brand new cancer bars
- Smoothed black rear centre panel
- Hubcentric 20mm rear spacers
- Fully polybushed all around
- New door bezel cups
- Small custom front number plate
- Fire extinguisher fitted to the passenger rear cubby box
- The compulsory x2 XL Pingis
- New ball joints
- X4 wheel alignment less than 6 months ago
- Alcantara door cards
- Phil aka Magic Beans custom LED heater panel
- New handbrake cables
- Brand new windscreen
- Clarion DUZ388RMP headunit (iPod compatible with cables run to the small storage compartment)
- Original optional extra rare boot mat
- Corbeau BOSS bucket seats
- Black diamond tweeters
- Rev 3+ tweeter covers
- Fully professionally refurbished rev3 alloy wheels
- Brand new Toyo T1s fitted on all four corners
- Brand new light-weight aluminium race radiator
- UBER RARE JDM flare and flare panel trim
- Custom V6 VVTi rub strips
- Volvo S60 fan washer jets (gives a far better and more even spread)
- Brand new Walbro 255 fuel pump fitted
- Fat Max door sound deadening installed
- SARD Fuel pressure regulator
- Full (rather expensive) custom stainless steel twin exhaust system with a COBRA SPORT backbox. All guaranteed for life
- Custom removable stainless steel exhaust bungs

Etc…. You get the idea!

Quite a list for the measly £5200 asking price… In parts alone the car is worth significantly more than that! Included in the sale if wanted I can provide the following parts/spares for free:
- Large custom pot of car touch up paint
- CTEK trickle charger with mounts currently on the battery (around 3-4 months old)
- Spare rev 3+ splitter
- Original tubby rain tray
- Spare cubby box
- Spare sunroof (which has a small crack in it)
- The original cancer bars (still in good condition)
- Spare Bosch battery
- Spare wiper arms and wipers
- Spare USDM red triangle loom
- Spare good condition and working alternator (really not cheap!!)

At an extra cost of £80 I will include my custom made multi-layered weather-proof car cover which comes with its own case. This has a zipable section to access the driver’s door whilst keeping the cover on the car.

The not so good bits…

- The car currently has a small electrical discharge. This does not effect the use of the car other than the fact that if your leaving it for an extended period of time you need to remove a fuse in the frunk to stop the drain.
- The rear bumper would benefit from a re-spray as it’s the original paint
- Being picky I would also rub the black window trims down and re-treat/coat them
- I haven't finished painting up the frunk touch up (I will endeavor to do this prior to any sale)

A few pictures to wet your appetite (please note that the wheels are now rev3 ones):

Your more than welcome to test drive (in Bristol) until I cancel the insurance so long as you provide me with valid proof of your insurance to cover you on the vehicle :thumleft:
Usual sale rules apply - no returns, no shipping to Africa etc
Cash on collection preferred although I will accept cheques and bank transfers (collection only after all money has cleared)

Words cannot describe how gutted I feel seeing this up for sale. Good luck with the sale Karl, I remember it parked around the back of Peter's before you had the engine installed and it looked really nice. Having heard it after the engine was put in all I can describe the noise is wow.

I'd love to own a v6 and though I think that'sa great price I ccouldn't afford it.

However. ... I'm only in Swindon and sometimes work in Bristol so I'd love a ride in it before it goes!!

A very valuable piece indeed

It's a shame you're potentially selling her, Karl, I understand just how much work goes into an OCD build like this. My first reaction was to buy it from you, however I'd not use it nearly as much as it deserves to be used, due to having the Westy, 1er and always being out doing something somewhere.

Thanks. I did intend to keep this forever and dry store it if she needed to come off the road at any time. Unfortunately with the culmination of baby, Nic wanting to go part time, bills, loans, wanting to do my big bike test and the car parking situation at work means that it's the most sensible option for us currently. It's wasn't an easy decision to make but the right decisions rarely are.

Ive had a lot of sleepless nights thinking about this advert and the potential sale price. I honestly think that this would sell at £8k+, but for a fast sale and for an IMOC member I feel that the asking price is more than reasonable :-k

Someone on here will get a cracking deal. It's basically a brand new car in the guise of an older car. The torque is simply amazing!!! Plus you'd be buying an MR2 that's known in the forums and shows already.

She certainly does sound like a beauty. It's a throaty rumble that I simply can't explain. It sounds like a true heritage sports car and get lots of attention even at classic car shows.

The pictures don't do it justice as it looks far better in person.
Here's my favourite:

I'm sure I can find some time to take you out on a V6 spin. This isn't just any V6 remember, this is the 1MZ-FE VVTi \:D/

Would be nice to see someone else continuing the progress thread on this car. It was hard to come to terms with selling it, but it doesn't seem like it's going to just anyone if I sell it through IMOC :thumleft:

It is one of my favourite bits of the car believe it or not :thumleft:
The build has been more of an obsession than a hobby

Go on Phil - buy it you know you want to. I'd love to see your build thread on this!!

I'm sure you and I could come to some sort of arrangement as it would be being sold to both a fellow imoc'er and a friend :thumleft:

Radiator (which I forgot to add also has new dual fans fitted to it)

Also forgot to add that the car has the fabled 5th gear extension which on its own costs hundreds in parts and labour :pale:

There has been a fair amount of interest but it's primarily from tyre kickers to be honest :-k

I stuck it on eBay yesterday. In just over 24 hours it's had 730 views and 31 watchers so I'm quite positive about that. I think it's massively cheap for the car that it is but it's a very difficult time to sell a car. Time will tell if it sells or not I guess.

You sure your not interested Phil?

Just spotted your auction :)

I couldn't knowingly buy it and leave it out in the rain and as the Westy is even less rain ready than EOR

You should so fix the electrical problem with it first mate, to anyone potential buyers out there (who haven't followed your build thread) an unidentified problem with a highly modified car just rings alarm bells, especially when you've spent so much on it but are prepared to sell it for so very much less. For the sake of a potentially easy problem to fix it has to be worth putting right first, my offer of help still stands for what it's worth :thumleft:

Of course- that's assuming you really want to sell it, which I don't think you should 8)

Karl I have a fuse buddy you can borrow (came from Peter) to help you try to find the problem.

I agree with Ashley. You're much more likely to find the right buyer with an issue like this resolved, if you can of course. :)

I completely agree that it would be easier to sell and would command a higher price with the parasitic drain issue rectified. Unfortunately this isn't something that I have any money to rectify.

All spending has been fully barred on the car due to the arrival of my son, and now I just need some of the cash back which is tied up in it. For someone this will be a huge bargain due to this :thumleft:

Thank you for your very very kind offer Ash. It really is appreciated.

Unfortunately I'm now at the point that I just need the cash and can't afford any more money on her, especially when I can't commute due to parking restrictions. It's definitely got to sell.

Fixing the issue would make it easier to sell but I simply dont have the money or time to do this and I don't want the car at the other end of the country for an unknown amount of time.

The only reason it's up for far less than I spent on it is that I'm being realistic as to the price and Im after a quick sale :thumleft:

Definitely not keeping her. Having my partner part time at work so she can look after our little one is more important than dry storing my car :thumleft:

The photos are from all around Bristol, Castle Coombe and Frenchay.
I lived in Bromley Heath when I took most of those photos, Ive now bought a different house in Mangotsfield though. Good eye :thumleft:

That's a shame Karl- I genuinely believe that an hour or two, the cost of a phone call, 10 inches of wire, some heat shrink and some solder would sort it for you :(
