[Mk2] [Turbo] After market intercooler gains

Post by Jonnie1987 »

Im thinking about buying an after market intercooler as my next mod form my Rev 1 turbo. Due to being on a budget the ebay one will have to do.

Does any one know what gains I should expect with this intercooler over the standard one?

current mods are:

Apexi induction kit
Decat with standard exhaust
Gizzmo EBC (adjusted to 0.79 bar)

Regards
John

You will be able to turn your boost up to 14psi if you have a FCD

And you will notice quite a nice difference :thumleft:

I have an FCD however its not on the car as I am unsure how to fit it. Its the Kelsport one with three wires: Red, Black and Green.

I cant remember which wires to connect to, google it
Forgot you will need a descent boost gauge too
then enjoy but dont go over 14psi to be safe!!

Hi Jonnie,

What settings are you using for 0.79bar on your Gizzmo?

I have the same Mods up as you apart from mongoose exhaust.

Cheers

Cut into the PIM signal wire on the map sensor.... Youre FCD is basically a resistor which friggs the signal to the ecu.... 3 wires, 1 from the sensor, 1 to the ecu... the remaining must be an earth.

To be honest, the easiest way is to just unplug the small vac line going to the map sensor.... On a Rev 1/2, it serves the purpose of dash guage and overboost protection. Be advised though, this removes the overboost protection.

If all your vac lines are secured correctly, then its unlikely to come apart and cause overboosting problems.... plus the stock Ct26 will run out of puff before causing any engine problems ! :thumleft:

No more than 14 psi though ! :thumleft:
