japspeed + de-cat db level?
Has anyone measured the noise of a japspeed with a decat on idle and at 4k?

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
I think Jeff measured the noise, dont know if it was at 4k revs but I think it was something like 112db
(this might have been on idle) I think he posted it in the General section or mechanical somewhere

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
Someone asked me about the one I have for sale at the moment.

This is what I said.

"It rattles my door knocker and the radiator
(its abit loose) in my living room on idle.

It sets car alarms off on my street if I drive off at more than 2500rpm and you cant have a conversation with somebody in the passenger seat of the car if you are doing 70 in the motorway.

My wife estimated that she could here me coming from over a mile away in a built up area"

Shameless plug for my for sale advert, I know, but the above reply to a question about my exhaust is all fact.

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
oh, i already have one after replacing my old goose.

The reason im asking is i'm looking at doing more track days this year.
I had no problem with the goose but it's looking like the the jap speed may be a problem.

May have to change to a blue flame, or othe quiter exhaust, hated the sound of the goose it seemed to resonate through the car and my head.

Blueflame will do the same.

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
Mine is very loud but I can talk to someone at 70 no probs.
Its funny how it sets of car alarms though, my nieghbours are quite forgiving though

Also, mine is fine at 70mph, Infact with the windows closed its fine at nearly all speeds, doent bother me at all but I dotn think the cars sitting behind me are too happy
lol

Oh and I think I made someone Sh!t themself the other day, drving along at 60 in 5th, passed someone on a push bike let off the accelerator pedal to start slowing down for a roundabout and BOOOOOOOM a Huge bang and flames out of both pipes

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
I think it was more of a pop from the unburnt fuel exploding but I get small pops made by the exhaust when slowing down with the revs falling

How long has yours been on? I think the more sooty inside the better for pops someone was saying.

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
had mine since may last year

i get little pops but not very loud ones, usually when i give it some,if i really push it i can get a loud bang in between gear but not usually on the over run

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
If you lift off the throttle
(over run) and slow to
~10 MPH, you should get a burble type of popping.
If you come off the throttle at higher speeds, when you next apply the throttle you should get a bang of varying loudness depending on revs and duration of over run.
Sometimes get it during gear change too, but less often.
Can be pretty loud

Re: japspeed + de-cat db level?
love the look of the motoria

ive took mine off to sell though as its just too loud on my NA
I had thought about having it opened up to put more wadding in to silence it, but at the
£180 i was quoted, it cant be justified!

Blueflame will do the same.I thikn Mongoose and Blueflames are technically the same but just differetn end pipes.

Dam it, I just want a free flowing exhaust that is not too load.

I did go in a 2 with a blue flame and i sounded fine, although that still has its cat in place, i suppose that could make a big difference.

I do love the Japspeed and find it more comfortable and even quieter then the goose when driving at 70mph.

Hopefully it can pass noise restrictions or I will have to look at getting a bung.
