Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately any RWD car will slip in damp conditions but MR2's especially and once it goes there's little chance of getting it back. I can understand you having doubts about wanting another MR2 but give it time and you will want to get another one when your confidence is back.

I wrote off a turbo nearly 2 yrs ago and that was caused by a damp roundabout so I can sympathise with you here.

Hi mate. Really sorry to hear about your accident :(
Similar happened to me just over a year ago on a very greasy bit of road. The main thing is that you're alright of course :thumleft:
I totally sympathise about you not being sure about getting another 2. I felt like this for a couple of months (I was pretty lucky to get out my car un-injured).

Take your time and make the decision that's best for you :D

All the best,
Matt

As others have said bud, glad you're ok. Don't get out of the '2 scene bacause of this, you will only regret it. Move on by all means, but only if you 'want' to move on to something else, you will only regret it. Bury your demons mate & leave when you're ready!

All the best matey!

Hi everyone, just want to say a very big thank you to you all for your concern and support on this. I've read other members threads in the past similar to mine and the member/author ends up being slated big time for driving too fast etc. etc.

If that had of been the case i think i'm big enough to put my hands up and say so, thanks for not doubting/ questioning me :thumleft:

You're all a credit to the club, i mean that.

I have seen the car and have some pics which i'll add soon, i must admit though, she doesn't look that badly damaged  which could be due to the good build quality, or just shear luck. I wont be surpised if the insurance say she is an uneconomical repair though, might buy her back and use second hand panels. From a quick look she'll need a front bumper with fogs indicators etc., both front wings, bonnet, both complete headlight mechanisms, n/s door. Not sure about the underneath but the rad is ok , and she drives.

With her not seeming too badly damaged makes me ask the question - Why the hell do i feel like xxxx, i'm stiff as a board, sore neck, shoulders, back, left ribs and left elbow. It must be my age lol.

Many many thanks, Jayson :thumleft:

Just to echo everyone else's messages, I'm glad to hear you're ok!

When my car got driven into in December it only had bumper and wing damage, a snapped crash bar and a bent exhaust mount. The work was valued at £1850 and the car was (mistakenly) valued as an NA - the list price for a 1994 NA was £1700... the major price in the rebuild valuation was Toyota bumpers! £700 an end I think. Wings are only £70 new. Hope that gives you some idea of rebuild costs and how your insurers reach their decision...

Edit: Oh yeah, I've slid my current MR2 sideways through a hedge before on a greasy road... I'm still driving it today and it's still straight having had another impact on a motorway. They really are tough little cars!

Thanks mate, and thanks for the info. We'll see what the insurance co. say. To be honest, she could have done with a respray anyway because of the red-pink-red again thing.

Sorry to hear about your accident. The roads this time of year are really bad. Do what I did and buy the car back from the insurance company and spend the insurance money on repairs and modification. Im well glad I did, mine is a k reg and i got £1700 - £100 to buy the car back. Not a bad deal, just make sure its only a cat d which Im guessing it will be.

Like I say I had an accident almost 2 years back, tesco insurance made me a very reasonable offer of £3400 for the car which was a rev 3 turbo with 67k miles. I was barely expecting £3000. Not sure what an N/A would be worth nowadays. I'm not sure I'd buy it back, it depends on the amount of damage really. Might be better just finding another mint example.

(I have a pair of standard sidelights if needed).

The agreed value is £1500, the certificate arrived today funnily enough, which isn't much i know ( some will say too much for a rev1 n/a, but totally original apart from alloys and very very clean). Even so , i'd rather it was in one piece. :(
