I wrote off a turbo nearly 2 yrs ago and that was caused by a damp roundabout so I can sympathise with you here.

When my car got driven into in December it only had bumper and wing damage, a snapped crash bar and a bent exhaust mount. The work was valued at
£1850 and the car was
(mistakenly) valued as an NA
- the list price for a 1994 NA was
£1700.
.
.
the major price in the rebuild valuation was Toyota bumpers!
£700 an end I think.
Wings are only
£70 new.
Hope that gives you some idea of rebuild costs and how your insurers reach their decision.
.
.
Edit: Oh yeah, I've slid my current MR2 sideways through a hedge before on a greasy road..
.
I'm still driving it today and it's still straight having had another impact on a motorway.
They really are tough little cars!

Do what I did and buy the car back from the insurance company and spend the insurance money on repairs and modification.
Im well glad I did, mine is a k reg and i got
£1700
-
£100 to buy the car back.
Not a bad deal, just make sure its only a cat d which Im guessing it will be.

I was barely expecting
£3000.
Not sure what an N/A would be worth nowadays.
I'm not sure I'd buy it back, it depends on the amount of damage really.
Might be better just finding another mint example.
(I have a pair of standard sidelights if needed).
