Another write off...for f##ks sake !pics added.

Post by MID LIFE CRISIS »

Went out to deliver a birthday card and present this evening for the wife who's not well and wish i'd never bothered. Country lane , right hand bend , rear end went , onto wrong side of road , onto grass , through hedge , into field with a bump! Was being pulled out by a kind fella in his 4x4 who was passing and a guy in his new company car lost control on the same bend , slid into the hedge on the left and rolled it end over end. What a mess , bits everywhere . His car lands sideways across both lanes. I rushed to help and , wait for it , he backs the car up onto the correct side of the road , then drives forward and parks it on the grass verge , and gets out , albeit a bit dazed and having hurt his ankle ! Police close road because of the debris from his car , but say that no one to blame for either accident , just a greasy road ! I was only using the MR2 cos my daily is broke , now i've got f##k all. It's fully comp with agreed value so that's something i suppose. Don't know if i'll bother with another though . Be careful out there !!!

I feel for you mate. Lost my yellow REV3 the same way a few years back.

At least you're ok though. MR2's can be replaced!

If you're claiming on the insurance mate, which I'm guessing you will, then never accept their first offer because they'll try and give you a bottom market price.

Be prepared to wait a couple of months and bombard them with letters until you get near to what you want. You are not under any obligation to accept their 'offer'.

When I wrote mine off I got an extra £500 on top of what they originally offered me, it took two months but it just takes a little perseverence.

Remember that insurance companies are there to make a profit, and most of the time at your expense. Its just a shame they'll base the offer on the present market which, lets face it, pretty much sucks :( Saying that, you'll be able to get a decent deal on another because the prices are so low so I guess it'll even out at the end.

Good luck though.

Bad luck, hope the claims process is a smooth one so you are back on the road soon. Sounds like it could have been much worse, especially with another car heading straight for the same place while you were still around.

Hopefully the agreed value policy he mentions in his post will mean he doesn't have to suffer this annoyance.

Thats bad luck fella. Glad you're OK (the other chap also). As has been said take your time with the ins. co. and come back to MR ownership... you know it makes sense.

Thanks Mike, i think it's the B4029, Ansty to Brinklow road. Which station would attend the scene, the guy in the 4x4 gave them his details and i'd like to thank him again ?

Cheers mate, it was damp. Just standing on the road you could feel how slippy it was under foot ! The Police said they were having trouble responding to "Blue Light Incidents" themselves because of slippery roads.
