2Bar Tuning

Post by Scott Barton »

Had my car looked at by Ryan of 2Bar Tuning to sort out the over fuelling and to check the MAP following the Hayward & Scott exhaust i added last year.

As soon as i lifted the engine cover Ryan spotted that one of the screws holding the dizzy cap had sheared! That would explain the dodgy tickover and rough running when wet then! ](*,)
Promptly nipped it round to his friends garage where the dizzy cap was removed and screw drilled out and replaced.

Then it was back to the rolling road (Surrey Rolling Road).
After a bit of tinkering figures of 345bhp (at the fly), 293bhp at the wheels with 320ftlb of torque was achieved. All this at only 1.3Bar due to restrictions on my actuator. If i was to go for an external wastegate or a new forged actuator, higher figures could comfortably be achieved.

Finally a last tweak on the road was carried out and i can honestly say the car has never pulled so well. Even Ryan was impressed with the results from my Garret GT28RS turbo unit.
All in all a very worthwhile day, Ryan is a top chap who takes time to explain what he is doing and why as best he can in layman terms.

Couple of pics of the day....courtesy of John Machling...cheers bud! :thumleft:

I think from what Ryan was saying today the Turbo i have at present is only good for about another 30bhp tops.
Maybe, just maybe, one day i may be tempted by a bigger turbo. My forged engine has a decent enough spec to handle a bigger blower...we will see.
I will continue to enjoy my current set up for a while yet.
Next stop, Santa Pod! Got to see what i can make on the strip now. Prior to my engine build my best time was 13.47 secs IIRC?

Cheers for all the comments guys. :thumleft:

You should easily surpass that with what you have Scott. I got a 13.1 with less than that. Actually, my mate, in my car got a 13.1 lol. Sometimes it takes the best few seconds of driving of your life to get the best :eye:

Cool, would like to see the plots as my long term plan is to go forged and fit a GT28RS as well. Have you got upgraded cams or are they stock?

I have HKS 264 cams. There is plenty of other bits and bobs and tricks in the engine bay as well...too many to list!

Check out my garage for a full run down of what there is. :thumleft:

You should be able to get better times this year Craig, i ran a 12.8 @107 with just bolt on mods a few years back now.
