my xbox 360 is dead

Post by Nails »

it died sometime between thursday and friday, I came to switch it back on and the tv was just saying incompable signal, and then no signal, i tried a different hdmi port, then a different hdmi wire, then tried the scart wire, then tried it on another tv using the scart and you could hear the startup noises but no picture.
damn it, its an elite and Ive only had it since nov 07, so its only out of warranty by about 6 or 7 weeks.

jus call em and say your xbox doesnt work.

they dont even bother asking about red lights anymore i dont think.

either that or do it online on xbox.com.

theyll fix it.

just out of curiosity, did you download any demos before this happened?

my mate downloaded the pro evo demo and it was that causing the error. he deleted it and it worked fine there after.

theres no red lights, only the usual 1 green light for the controller to be connected, the xbobx seems to be working fine, just with no picture signal

just spent the best part of an hour speaking with some one from microsoft to get it fixed, although he wasnt very bright, and kept telling me to go into the system menu etc even though i had told him that there is no picture and i cant see what im meant to be doing!!
having to send it back and pay 58 quid to get it fixed, i really needed some play time as ive being working solid on my house shifting over 20 tonne of concrete, soil and plaster out of it, and have about the same again to still come out. My back is breaking.

Does holding "Y" during startup do anything? (Reset the Video)

It depends, the X clamp fixes a melted chip that freezes the console up doesnt it? He's saying his turns on fine and works but there's no picture.
That could be something totally un-related to what the X-clamp fixes?

i can garentee the xclamp will fix it lol. most of the 360 "issues" are fix able via the xclamp
including:
no sound but picture
no picture but sound
over heating
no sound or picture
2 red lights (over heating)

i fixed one with no vid only sound and one with no sound or vid along with several ones with 2 and 3 red lights :thumleft:

'no display' is the first sign or RROD.
If you leave it on for a good 30 mins I bet you rrod will display.
If not then on reboot it will.

Like Herb says - X-clamp that b1tch

I tried telling him that it should be fixed for free being only just out of warranty, and he kept saying when I get it back it will have another years warranty, so i told him it would be no good as they only break after 13 months!

damn, if I knew that I would of left it on, I was thinking about making it overheat myself by wrapping it in a towel till it smoked but then I thought it would be my luck that they'd fixed that bit but whatever was broke in the first place would still not be fixed lol

That was quick! My dvd drive is dying, 12 and a half months old, i have to punch it to get it to read  when i can be ar$ed phoning up i'll be demanding it be fixed for free, the sales of goods act says that all items must be fit for purpose and last as long as a reasonable person would expect, the 12 month warranty has to be given under UK law but for £300 (elite) i would expect the main part of it to last longer than 13 months, i'll hit them with that and a threat of the small claims court and if they refuse i'll pay the £20 to process it, let's see microsoft send over a representative to appear in court in northern ireland for the sake of a £50 repair :eye:

I would of tried that but the people you speak on the phone to are unbelivably stupid.
You know how indian call centres they had them watching corra and eastenders so they could learn 'english' and our supposedly accents? Well these are also foreign, but with yank accents. They couldnt understand me or my lass(who works on the phones for living), so I wasnt getting anywhere with them, I got her to process the fix and use her card as it was getting picked up from hers, and her last name is punter, everytime she tells some one she has to say punter with a P, coz most people write down hunter or bunter instead, but this guy wrote it down wrong still and when the letter came it was addressed to Miss Kunter lol!

Whooooop mines just died!

I have suspected it was going to do one for a week or two now after some random freezes - then playing Fable the graphics go to sh*t and bosh 1 red light and some error message.

Is this the RROD issue everyone mentions?

Just wondering if its worth buying another now and then punting on the replacement when it comes through? Is there much difference in the Elite model?
