FAO People Who Play Guitar Hero On HARD

Post by matt_mr2t »

I have completed nearly all of GHII and GHIII on hard.

I think I need to do 3 more songs on each to finish them but just can't bloody do it.

On III it's Slayer, Metallica and Iron Maiden. The main problem I have is when you have the diagonal rows of notes IE very fast green, red, yellow, blue and orange all in quick sucession (or any combo of them)

Any tips on how to roll these notes off without my fingers freezing solid and not getting them?

What doesnt help is that the star power activates when I dont want it to and when I'm in trouble I dont have it any more ](*,)

alternate strum as fast as u can whilst moving your fingers to what you think are the right notes 80% of the time you will get through those parts.

make sure you're doing the hammer on and pull offs correctly, you won't need to even strum if you get it right!!

hammer ons are great, but if your not too good at them then alternate strumming is the best way to get through them.
probably the best way to get better at hammer ons/pull offs is to play cult of persoanlity on hard. solos are easy and good practice

Sell the guitar hero, buy an acoustic and learn it properly then you can play whatever you want and make up your own stuff. Who knows, maybe stardom and fortune awaits.....

It's something i might do in the future. But then again, i did gcse music and for love nor money i couldn't master the piano. I could play the tune with my right hand but couldn't match the bass with my kept.back then beats meant nothing although through dj.ing i get that a bit more now. But you say i can play anything, that's not entirely true now is it. With a real guitart i could simply play the guitar part of the song IF i even learned it!

Sorry but yes you could play anything.... on the guitar. I'm not suggesting learning the guitar will increase your piano playing or drumming skills but what will you be able to accomplish after mastering guitar hero? Nothing more than the ability to mime to another persons music.... my brother and I were doing that with cricket bats 30yrs ago without the need to spend £100s on a game which then requires us to produce more electricity to play it when we're now well aware of global warming and how we're generating it.
Bottom line is like everything else nowadays people want instant gratification and the kudos or rewards of a skill without actually putting in the required effort to learn it. Buy the acoustic and in 2yrs rather than having a redundant game worth next to nothing and which has demanded electricity every time it's been used you'll still have the acoustic, be able to play any guitar at any party or event where there is an instrument and have the ability to produce unique music that reflects your own ideas and emotions.
Sorry but Guitar Hero is just air guitar with really expensive as well as polluting air...

FWIW. I have Guitar Hero and I've been trying to get the hang of real guitars since I was 16. I currently have... 2 electrics ('80s Kramer and Godin with EMGs), 2 basses (cheapo Stagg & Sqier, I sold my good Roland MIDI bass) and a Lamaq acoustic.

The two skills do complement each other - guitar hero, if you strum correctly; think "right hand rhythm, left hand melody" will train you into getting the right hand into "just hitting the strings" rather than "playing a note" - which really does appear to be the key to shredding, you can hit the strings in order, right? You can press the strings, right? Now just two the two operations in time.

Obviously there's a lot more to it than that, but Guitar Hero has taught me a fair bit about rhythm. Also, I can now play bits of "Photograph" on the real guitar.

Thats me.... a little ray of sunshine indeed.
I'm just saying in an environment where we are being constantly told to conserve energy... energy saving bulbs, turn off anything we're not using etc. etc. ad infinitum, it strikes me as a contradiction that we are still being marketed games which simulate something you can do without consuming energy and which have none of the positive benefits of the 'green' authentic practice.
As for running a Gwhiz.... what's the carbon footprint of producing one to replace my perfectly serviceable 2? Sure there are environmental savings once you have it but the materials aren't plucked from the air, they're not manufactured at no environmental cost. If they last 10yrs I'd still need 2 made during the period my MR has lasted. Sure they're beneficial once they're on the road but don't think that's the end of the story as far as environmental impact is concerned.
Bottom line re: guitar hero is I'm not that fussed but thought it might be an interesting point for comment and discussion.

Go get a g-wizz and turn the net off while your at it too.

I hadn't intended to appear to be preaching, nor am I... I was just hoping to spark a discussion about it by raising a viewpoint... perhaps that's asking too much... well obviously it is. Does nobody else think it's an oddity for a society to press to move to more efficient energy usage whilst at the same time inventing and marketing ways of using more energy for no practical result? I grant you it's a slightly bigger and more complex question than how to play Guitar Hero better but hey, might be a question worth considering since apparently the future of our planet might depend upon our attitude towards it. Most people HAVE to run cars and the internet for work and business in these days... no option till the govn give us decent public transport as an alternative or every other business also forgoes the web to level the playing field. Close the internet altogether? Absolutely no problem for me I assure you. I survived v happily without it for 35 yrs and would do so again, as would the rest of the human race.
As for the arguement about running a 2. I've already said I'm not intending to preach but rather discuss but perhaps you should explore the carbon footprint involved in the making of new cars (not just the running of them) and consider the actual costs involved to the consumer which preclude many (me included) from buying a new car before you start calling people stupid.
I'm just having a conversation and thought it an interesting point to raise. If it's not mentally stimulating enough for you please feel free to go back to your discussion about miming.

You did the same thing on the AC/DC rock band thread.

Why not start your own thread about computer games you dont like and should be taxed and what not. I'm sure your a nice bloke but tbh, I couldnt give a flying you know what about climate change and certainly dont want my threads turning to that.
Funny how it's only the music games you say it on though, surely the same should apply to ALL games!

Yup. All games.
You are right though Matt I have hijacked your thread and apologise, just thought it an interesting diversion (as I get older and more political) and wanted to stimulate some debate.
Only other thing I'll say before buggering off is your view of climate change may not matter to you, I or anyone else reading this but if the scientists are right it will matter to my nephews and nieces and any family they may have... or that you might yourself one day.
