Problems installing Sony headunit with PC9-406

Post by dabcabc »

I've just had my PC9-406 adaptor through the post, and getting a bit confused with the installation. This is what i have so far:

The stereo i have only has rear rca outputs, while the adaptor has connectors for both rear and front. Do i just get splitters and connect them both up to the rear outputs. On the box it says use the PC9-450 adaptor if you don't have RCA adaptors, which is this one:

So i connect this one up, with the two rear connectors from the PC9-406 going into the head unit, and the two front connectors going into the rca female adaptors on the PC9-450, and the headunit connector going into the PC9-450.

This might be less confusing if i'd had the correct installation instructions included within the connector instead of one for a stalk control adaptor (PC9-601) :(

My Rev2's original set-up was non-active and having never seen the specifics of an active system I didn't realise until now that it was based on pre-outs, or RCA connectors. I assume therefore that your standard (or previous) head-unit had 2 sets of pre-outs..?

It looks to me as though the PC9-450 will solve the issue if it'll split the head-unit's rear feed into front *and* rear, or just use another form of splitter if it's cheaper.

If you're feeling flush of course you could get another stereo. =P~
