Before writing this I have contacted an imoc moderator to check it was ok to post.

.

.permission was granted so here it is.

.

.

I am not trying to cause problems/arguments, just trying to potentially save someones time.

.

.It makes no difference to me the future of this car as we've found another one we're going to see on friday, but if I can save anybody else the hassle then its worth that much at least.

.

.

This car is also advertised on pistonheads.

.

.

I've been helping a friend search for a rev3 mr2 turbo over the last couple of days and came across this example, price was good, nice colour, spec, mileage, so gave the guy a call.

.

.

we called him, pre-negotiated a price, and he told us that the car drove perfectly, no major mechanical issues.

.

.asked him numerous times if there was anything we should know before comitting to the drive down.

.

.he mentioned a faulty drivers side window which was fine, we took this into consideration with our offer and were happy to get this fixed after purchasing the car.

.

.anyway.

.

.

a
300 mile, 6 hour round trip
, and

£45 of petrol later, we'd seen the car.

.

.

i've owned/driven daily 4 rev3 mr2 turbos over the last 18 months.

.

.

- my current black tom's rev3 turbo

(driven daily)

- my previous SMG rev3 turbo

(driven daily)

- test drove a rev3 turbo rogue had for sale

- test drove a blue rev3 turbo another member in nottingham had for sale

I'm no expert mechanic but what i'm getting at is.

.

.i know how these cars are meant to pull.

.

.

This example doesnt even start boosting untill 5500rpm! probably as much power a non turbo mr2 up till then.

.

.something is very majorly wrong with this car!

.

.

.really very disappointed.

.

.not at the car.

.

.but the seller's dishonesty.

.

.i could understand if he didn't know anything about the car and thought the engine was normal but he has owned several mr2 turbos.

.

.yet he persisted to tell us that this is how the car was supposed to drive
Icing on the cake.
.
.

.
.
.the v5 registration document is not in his name
.

It is still in the previous owner's name, even though he's had the car since april.

.

.The reason given for this was that a buyer came down to buy the car and changed his mind? Didn't really add up to me.

.

.

This car has had 9 owners in 5 years since its been in the uk.

.

.I'm inclined to believe he didnt send off the v5 so that it wouldnt add another owner onto the list.

.

.a name had clearly been tipexed off the v5.

.

.Perhaps he wrote his name down to buy the car? Then tipexed it of afterwards? This is in no way conclusive but I am strongly inclined to believe this is the case

We have no hard feelings.

.

.this kinda thing is expected with buying second hand cars i guess, but i would like to warn other future buyers before they sacrifice their time/effort/petrol to go and see this car as we did.

.

.If you require any further information, send me a PM

Thanks for listening
