I stand to be corrected but don't think you can actually get the Eagle F1's anywhere? That means your choices really are the Falkens, Toyo T1-Rs, Yokohamas and Bridgestones (again if you can find anyone to source them).
I've tried the Toyos and Yokos (ao22s - the older tyre, since replaced) and defo prefer the toyos especially in the wet though you do have to wait 500 miles or so till they come to you and you do have to play with pressures as has been stated (though you can gradually bring them down over 6mths till they're only about 2/3psi higher than standard all round).. you'll hate them when they're fresh on! Once they're sorted you'll still feel a little movement of the sidewall but when you're used to it it's fine and they're nicely progressive so your confidence rises along with cornering speeds. I'm definately faster than I was on the Yokos
Let us know what you go for and how you get on.

I don't think you can get Bridgestone Potenza's in standard sizes. I had them on my last MR2 and they were about on par with Toyo's. The Falken's are not quite as good as either IMO.

I've been pleased with the Toyo's although now the tread is getting low on the rear they're not quite so grippy in the wet.

Dont want to upset anyone here but Toyo Proxes TS1 & R's are poor in my opinion, an average sport tyre, used them twice and wouldnt not again, but relatively cheap on common tyre size!

If your going to go toyo, look at the R1R's!!! in between TS1R & R888 (R888 excellent in summer but hey, we live in England)!

Ive always reverted back to Goodyear Eagle F1's! Im using those on the front and the new Eagle F1 Assemytic's on the rear (front size not available yet!) and they're excellent! even better than the F1's for summer use, but in the wet, best money can buy, handling unbelievable in wet! vey impressed and road noise excellent due to new tread pattern! :thumleft:

Not cheap but get what you pay for in my opinion

Just another shout for how UTTER TRIPE the Toyo T1-R is in the stock Tubby 15" sizes.

I went for the Falken, twice, and although it's no SO-3 it's a darn sight better than the Toyo.

Play with pressures and they'll improve dramatically, end of the day though there's a lot of personal preference going on with tyre choice and we could debate till the cows come home. Perhaps the first question to ask really is what is actually available to you from the dealers.

Standard sizes post rev1 are 195/55/15 (f) and 225/50/15 (r) though you can pop a 205/50/15 on the front to take out a little understeer (IMO).

Aren't you going to be struggling for traction with such a narrow rear tyre on a turbo? Then again looking at your Drifter username that might be the plan?

No those sizes are still wrong for rev 4 wheels. As said above it should be 195/55/15 (or 205/50/15) on the front and 225/50/15 on the rear.

How do you drive?
If you do any fast cornering do not go near the Toyo's. I hate mine with a passion and have no faith in them at speed at all. Keep well away. I have played with the pressures and they are still shocking.

I use Avon ZZ3s, cant fault them, excellent dry grip and good wet grip.

Have used Eagles before and would recomend them as well.

steer clear of budget tyres just not worth it.

I've recently put Toyo T1R's on my Tubby's rears and have lost all confidence in carrying BIG speed in bends, especially during direction change.

I've increased pressures which has improved things a little. I'm just hoping as the miles stack up the tyres will get better.

If things are still the same I'm considering changing them for these:-

My theory is a buget track tyre should be better than a road tyre.

Anyone had experience of these?

Cheers

dont need the url tags just copy and paste the link straight in HTH

Still not decided on tyres yet  seems at toyo T1-Rs are a no no, guess i'll keep hunting, as drive fast in wet and dry and dont wana be losing grip, over a wrong decision on tyres
