I wasn't sure at first but, after a few more goes have decided that i like it.

Sure the handling simulation is a bit arcadey, though if you use a joypad you deserve what you get i guess. It works well with the wheel (these settings only display if you have a wheel connected).... yes you can saw at the wheel and get away with it.

But, the most important thing, the racing is good and close, just like it always was and that key ingredient is what has always make Toca. This is what separates it from GT5, its just a feeling of getting stuck in there.

I like it lots.

Of course i did try it with the great unwashed in quick race mode and sure enough after getting up to 3rd, somebody used me as an emergency brake and shunted me so badly up the ar$e that my windscreen popped out!

Not long thereafter I was t-boned and shafted just about everywhere, cue the car crabbing down the road, steering wheel completely out of alignment (thought that was cool as i've had that situation in a real race before)... made the car a bu88er to drive.

2nd attempt at a 7 lap race online in the beemer and I fared slightly better, got up to 3rd, then made a few mistakes, hit someone who span out in front of me etc... made 5th.. had a good consistent race and kept the car vaguely in one piece.

Actually i can't wait till the full game comes out. :D

Downloaded this last night and i prefer it to GT5, like lauren said the racing is closer and you get more stuck in. I dont think the AI is as good as GT5 as a car slammed right into the side of me on a straight.

Cant wait for the full game as the demo only seems to be 576p?, is the full game going to be 1080p like GT5?

Its rubbish, graphics arent that great, physics are shocking, the drifting is utterly chav spec, the crash damage is ok until you see the cars in slow mo and realise they just seem to melt through each other. Track damage is minimal - oo a few tires.

The whole flash back thing is rubbish, the guy talking to you is annoying, and the ways the cars dont handle like real cars is also annoying, the stupid amount of smoke off the tires of the drift car - no joke do 10mph, yank the hanbrake and watch the massive plume! Thats just stupid.

Forza has nothing to be scared of, neither does GT5 Prologue. Basically just a different version of Need for speed with a bit of TOCA thrown in as well. Gay!

glol @ Forza / GT5 prologue has nothing to be scared of, when it's a Demo compared to full games, well reasoned :+:

Eh? Seriously .. have you actually played it? Its dire! Whilst its only a demo its going to representative of the end gameplay, otherwise its counter productive them even releasing it to the public.

Lets face it Its not like they are going to re write the physics engine which is mine and pretty much everyone elses concerns with it - what we are seeing is near enough the finished product bar a few background tweaks.

Its basically just some arcade game trash along the same lines as Need For Speed, Burnout etc.

So yes it is well reasoned. On the face of it it dosnt not compare in the key areas. [-(

Can I also refer you to the title of the thread which is ... move over GT5 ... This game certainly isnt a replacement for GT5 or for that matter the more superior Forza 2. :oldtongue:

Oh and GT5 prologue is a demo IIRC - so probably a good comparison? Its an expensive demo but a demo all the same ... :oldtongue:

Easy there mate! Its definately not that bad!

The guy talking to you is annoying yes,...but audio names is cool! Too much smoke yes, but the drifting is good fun once you get the hang of it (takes afew goes) Just had 3 attempts at it...best score 357,500. Crash damage is a lot better than GT5 ( ) and the graphics look pretty damn good, nothing amazing but they do look good. Physics aren't spot on....yet....but like its been said mate...its only a demo. :thumleft:

....and agree...Forza 2 is better.

GT5P is a bit more than a demo in all honesty. Besides how can you compare a game that is £18 to a free demo. There is a difference.

I didn't like Grid the first time i played it, but once i gave it a few more goes, i got hooked into the close racing and it is good for that.

The physics engine is better than DiRT i think although that has a lot more to DiRT not working properly with a wheel, whereas Grid works very well.

I did try it with the joeypad and i really didn't like it. Are you using a wheel James? Reason I ask is because i think you get a much better feel wth the wheel.

Historically i've been a big RD3 fan and used to race online in the leagues for a bit. As a result i've tended to prefer it over the gran turismo series.

I think you should maybe go play it again for an hour, try a few online races etc and see what you think then.

Agreed completely.

The video trailer looked great. But this demo looks and plays very PS2 :-k

It did enjoy it better after a few goes though.

Well I was going to say how similar it looks to TOCA or Destruction Derby 2 on the PS1 but that would've been a little too harsh :^o

I quite enjoy it - I loved the TOCA stuff for wheel to wheel racing and this keeps to that. It's no Gran Turismo/Live For Speed for sure, but good fun nonetheless :thumleft:
The 3 series BMW competition - the WR time was quite easy to beat, happily submitted my time of 1:16 something thinking it was rather good, only to see the leader board has #1 slot in the 1:13s !! No way am I gonna find over 2 seconds, might have to dust off the wheel and ditch the joeypad.

This is a game that definately works better with the wheel. I'd turn the forcefeedback down a notch though, thought i was going to break my wrists with it the other night.
