just refering to what Jimbob had said on the other neils posts who was selling his genuine trd....
so dont really know what you meant.........all your comments have been helpful....and genuine.......being that you own a genuine trd.....if anything you should been looking down on us poor souls who aspire to have one ourselfs.......but even when the genuine one came up for sale.......it didnt make me want to buy it now....even though i made neil an offer to buy last year some time.....i think i got over it now......just happy now to be part of the trd....stroke mr2 fraternity.
cheers carl..........

LOL it was my comment on Neil's sale thread that jimbob quoted, all these Neil's make things confusing!

TuRD snobbery doesn't suit me! :oldtongue: My plan was always to build my own but i got put off by the amount of work involved! The amount of sub boxes i sold also enabled me to put a little more money towards it!

look forward to the feature!

I don't do the boxes in bulk anymore, but could be talked into doing some one-off projects, pm me if your interested!

I went for new wheels, previous were 16, so went to 17. The wheels were second hand so went for as close to correct offsets as i could find, fronts were bang on but rears still needed a 10mm spacer. The wheels initially on it really didnt do the car justice, they sat way to far in and were wayout on offsets even with 27mm spacers!

Exact offsets are in my garage, i saw the wheels you have for sale on the OC and would have had them if i hadnt just bought these ones!

Theres definately a difference kit to kit on these.

Yours has sharper lines than mine, and I would say sharper than the genuine as well.

I bet if you got all the TRD's lined up it would make for an interstiong spot the difference.

I forgot to ask how you went about the rear arches mate? I think the only real flaw with a genuine kitted car is the rear arches, and this issue can be addressed if doing things yourself.

The problem is that the rear arches go over stock. On the only genuine car I have seen in the flesh the original bodywork was still present underneath. This means there is an arch about 2-3" inside the TRD arch. This effectively gives a crud trap and a nice obstruction for the tyre to hit (if you hit a big bump)

On mine the original arches were cut out and the rear quarter panels were shaped and rewelded to give a new arch tub, this was then extended by making a new arch skin totally horizontal (to the ground) and then bonding this new skin to the TRD arch. A lot of work, but worth it. I am yet to see another car with it done.

Looking good on the fitment of your kit. Be nice to see some paint on it. I almost went the Candy Apple route, but decided to stick to a factory colour for ease of repair. Did you go with House of Color?

I keep wondering what are them bit bolty things sticking up from round the car?

HI jimbob........here is a cut and paste answer to your questions from my fitter....

O.K, Basically as we are only Running 17"s all round, We dont really have any Tyre to Fender Clearance Issues.

For that reason there isn't any need to Trim and Re-Weld the Rear Arches to Incorporate a Mini Tub, (although this is a very effective method) - I use this on my Drift Cars to Minimise Bodywork Damage from Tyre De-Lamination !

Anyway, The plan is to Fabricate a Mini Arch Liner that Attaches to both the Factory Steel Rear Quarter and the New CSM Rear Quarter !

The Candy Apple Red is a MetalFlake Candy Concentrate, New Skool 2K Based Material; House of Kolor uses really out of date type materials making them alot more difficult to Apply and Repair !

The 'Bolty Things' you can see sticking out of the Bodywork are 'Clikos', They are a Spring Loaded Removable Temporary Fixing used widely in the American Aircraft Assembly Industry to attach Aluminium Skins to Aircraft Fusulages before Final Riveting !

Hope this Answers all your Questions

has anyone seen the car in the mr2 only mag...........

it has come a long way since then.........should be finished in a week or so...cant wait to drive her now.......as i am 2 less at the moment and its dead boring driving another car....... period.
once back to its rightful onwer after 5 months
should give me time to ponder on the engine mods and interior mods.

i can only let william the fitter explain the reasons for the long delay on the build..but just looking at the intricate complexities at doing all the trim alone i can understand ...
regards carl.......
