Its quite the opposite unfortunately, the original set up I was looking at was the wrong side of 2 grand...

Greddy front big brake conversion combined with a 2 piece rotor and spacer brackets for the rear....

Well I'm looking a bit more into this atm - not for the stopping power so much as the Carbotechs are great - more for the bling.

Been looking at the D2 stuff:

but as Andy says, no mention of the handbrake element. Otherwise looks the same quality as AP - and probably works out around £1300 for a set (plus VAT and shipping so another 3-400) but still cheaper than £2K plus for a custom set. I had a custom set of AP on the TC, but the rear is always the issue.

Has anyone dealt with Hi-Spec recently - I ask because they had a fairly bad reputation for not getting stuff done a couple years ago.

I wouldnt touch the D2 or K-Sport stuff with a bargepole.

Or the global-z kit which you need a set of skyline (or supra I dunno) calipers and allows you to also fit a bigger rear disc same as the wolfkatz.

Also both allow you to keep your handbrake which the k-sport front rear ones do not.

Mainly the way they pretty much ripped off the D2 Vodaphone logo that sponsors DTM. Also i'm pretty sure that their coilovers are just rebadged K-Sport ones. Which when tested on a shock dyno came out with very inconsistent results. Personally I wouldnt buy any of that stuff.

the wolfkatz front callipers are OEM (from something) 4 pot monoblock road units so yup fully dust shielded. Can't imagine what shipping to UK would be like which is a shame as I followed the build thread and was quite interested in buying a set

Yeah I wouldnt be suprised if it works out to be the same amount in pounds that it is in usd.
Also he wont say because he doesnt want everyone copying it, which kinda put me off because it seems kinda silly having to order discs and pads from america that are probably available here anyway. Plus i'd have to get some 17's for the rear, adding to the cost.

If I could get hold of that global z kit though, but I can't find much info on it.

funnily enough other than ordering discs from Hi spec or the like I've been doing some checking of other cars that have big discs we could use on the ole mr2. Found some, just need a front calliper set up and spacers for the rear calliper. Got plans for that too.

I can see why he's keeping the source quiet but their is enough info in that thread to pick up what you need (other than aforementioned callipers )

The Global Z Kit looks quite nice its getting to the point now where i find the kist massively overpriced in my veiw

Yes Toni, Is correct Hi Spec,back In the day did not seem to handle business as well as It could have.But I have been In contact with them and seem quite switched on also I phoned Matt,at Rogue Motorsport,who Incidentally have two or three customers with the full front en rear Hi Spec kit fitted and comments that the set up Is good and braking Is truly remarkable! One just needs to touch the brake pedal and you stop Immediately.



Matt drives all types of MR 2's all year round from road to wild race and Is very particular with his/their comments and feedback and In my book If he says they are good then that does say something both from a function and technical engineering point of view. I bought Earl's, monster kit from Andy,and am very Impressed with the engineering the four pot calliper are feather weight.




A good negotiator might consider setting up a group buy with Hi Spec as they seem to have taken this development now past R&D stages with customers using their brakes.The couple who have their MR 2 at Rogue Motorsport, are they member here? Be good to hear their feedback. The bloke has the super sized monster brake kit 335 or 325 mm on 17" OZ Superleggera rims and his missus or partner has the slightly smaller version brake kit on 16" rims. Bear In mind like flywheels and other custom precision parts the balancing and precision Is critical. Personally feel there might be more hope dealing with a more entity than not?

Okay will find out mate but do most guys prefer the 17" or 16" to fit wheels probably best to focus on one or the other?
