[Mk2] [Turbo] Gap in the driver side window

Post by saj8162 »

Hi.. Ive just purchased a mr2 turbo, few days before picking up the car, sum idiot smashed the driver side glass and tried nicking the sterio, the lad got the glass from a breakers yard and fitted it in, the window goes all the way up, but theres a inch gap from the top, ive taken off the door card, but i aint got a clue wht im looking for, looks all fine to me, is there a adjuster or sumthing on there?
1st day i got it took it to 1 of them car washes, where they wash it by hand, the lad sprayed the jet wash on the window and the water come through lol, any idears people ?

I'm a bit confused by " goes all the way up " but " there's a 1" gap at the top " if it has gone all the way up, there wouldn't be a gap at the top surely? if there is a gap...then it can't have gone all the way up???

or am I missing something?

I think I know what you mean now..it goes up and stops..but leaves a gap..right? you can adjust it, you need to take off the door card ( obviously, Doh! ) wind the window to the top, then adjust the glass on the runner so it is in the correct position, it's bit fiddly, and you may have to make one or two adjustments until it's correct.

Hope this helps.

Not electrical really ;) Take a look at this post, there's a link down near the end to the toyota docs on window alignment:

Go to the section of the BGB that describes to how disassemble the windows. They show you the different ways that you can adjust the window.
