Just got back from having my radiator fixed, and I'd like to make a point in defence of Toyota main dealers.

My radiator cost

£220

(vs.

£120-160 for others), is a genuine part.

With ancilliaries and fitting I actually spent

£400, but only

£100 of that is labour and the rest is me being fussy, wanting the system drained, flushed and refilled properly, new thermostat, and a gearbox oil change too.

The new radiator

(and labour since it's been done by a main dealer) has a three year warranty.

If it is at all defective, they replace it and do it all over again, free.

Given the quality of some cheaper parts I've seen, I think this is worth the extra

(plus I didn't have to lie in the mud and gravel faffing about all day trying to fix the car

- instead I got a cup of coffee or three, a test drive in a Prius, and to play on the showroom PS2).
