[Mk2] [NA] Fidanza Flywheel problem!

Post by jason_pmr2 »

I have a rev1 N/A, and wanted to upgrade the flywheel to a fidanza one (Who only seem to make them for the turbos). So ive gone and bought a Fidanza lightweight flywheel Part No. 130331 (Which i understand is for the 3sgte).

Probem is the clutch i got, fits the N/A gearbox, doesn't fit on the SGTE flywheel. The holes on the clutch pressure plate dont line up on the flywheel.

So is it possible to buy a turbo clutch kit(Just to get the pressure plate) and use it with an N/A clutch disc(Which will fit on the N/A gearbox shaft)? Will that work?

Or will a 3sgte clutch kit fit with my N/a gearbox shaft anyway?

Any help/ advice is needed!

The kit won't work. You'll have to get turbo running gear as well.

You can use a N/A disk and tubby pressure plate, it's been done by some of the guys on twobrutal who have a V6 with a tubby fidanza on it and an n/a gearbox. Seems to work ok.

Have a look on the TwoBrutal forum (Drivetrain section) for more details. http://forums.twobrutal.com/

P.S I've removed your duplicate posts here and in the mech section.

So the tubby fidanza flywheel will fit onto the 3sge crank shaft, so its just the clutch i'll need to sort out??

Is that correct.
I just dont want to spend ages taking the gearbox out and finding out that the flywheel wont fit!

Cheers for the help

I'm not sure of the fittment of the flywheel onto the crank Jason, I don't know what the bolt pattern is.

Edit: OK, just had a read over on TB and it looks like the bolt pattern on the 3SGE crank is different to that on the 3SGTE, so unfortunately your Flywheel won't fit straight on. :(

Im getting mixed information now.

Spoke to fensport: They say turbo flywheel wont fit to my N/A crank
Spoke to Rogue: They say turbo flywheel will fit to my N/A crank
And on two brutal it wont fit!

What do i do? Sell the flywheel and buy an N/A one i think?

Nearly went to buy a turbo clutch pressure plate to go with my N/A clutch disc a minute ago?

Any idea where i can find a definate answer as to flywheel - crank fitment?

Well I know that the guys on TB have used N/A flywheels on their V6s (3SGTE bolt pattern) but the flywheels have been machined to fit, so I'd assume the reverse is true. :-k

If you can find a light N/A flywheel I'd go for that, but I wouldn't buy a stock one which has been 'lightened' by a machine shop unless it is a reputable company who know exactly what they are doing.

Edit ok now I'm getting confused! http://www.passracing.com/ Lists a TODA flywheel for both 3SGE and 3SGTE! #-o

i thought the 3sfe NA had the same bolt pattern as the 2.2 5sfe crank? if thats the case, then get a 5sfe flywheel from fidenza (its a 3s with elongated bolt holes) ,then fit the 3sGte pressure plate and 3sge disk.

hope thats right :thumleft:

Sell the Fidanza one and get a Cromoly one!

My mate just removed his and it was knackered after about 1 year.

How much are the Cromoly ones, and where is the best place to get one from?

ok, lets clear things up

the 3sgTe crank IS the same as the 3sge, it is exactly the same! they have the same part numbers!

however the flywheels ARE different

but the 3sgte flywheels WILL fit the 3sge crank!

however a 3sge pressure plate will not bolt to the 3sgte fly, so what you want is the following for it to work on your 3sge NA

- 3SGTE Flywheel
- 3SGE clutch plate
- 3SGTE pressure plate

Toda
Jun

If any have a BOGOFF offer, I'll have the other!

If you use a turbo pressure plate it won't fit the input shaft on the gearbox. Turbo and na shafts are different diameters.

The pressure plate/cover plate will fit, it doesnt have anything to do with the input shaft on the gearbox, the clutch disc however wouldnt fit on the N/A flywheel.

Well at least the flywheel will bolt onto my crank \:D/
