Hi all

- thought i'd let you all know and this info is current and from my experiences.

You've seen the above info with the Emissions saga

- mines a 1994 turbo.

lower down is also a bit of info about Number plate failure.

VOSA
I spoke to VOSA yesterday they told me if no exact engine code, make and model is found and it falls between the relevant years for an import upto 1995
Then the garage should carry out a NON-Cat test

CO

<=3.5%
HC<=1200PPM

Luckily my garage took this advice and carried out that test and he kindly photcopied info from his Mot Manual which may be of use and safe alot of hassle.
extract from
"The M.O.T Inspection Manual"

Section 7.3
Personal Imports: The vehicle will be tested according to it's age from first use.

The only exemption to this is if the vehicle owner can present to the tester at the time of test a letter from the vehicle manufacturer stating that the particular engine as originally installed could not meet the equivelant British Emmisions standards.

If this is the case then test to the next lower emmision standard.

which basically means with a letter you's get the Non-Cat test

Useful if you have a really difficult MOT tester.

I have to say mine was really good.

Hope this helps

- I also had issue with my number plates letters to thin
however went and got some new ones from a proper spares place and exactly the same letter width

- they told me this was standard and as set by VOSA.

it's all computerised.

Hope this makes and is useful.
