[Mk2] [Turbo] engine rebuild....help

Post by les »

Hi Have my engine in bits ready for rebuild and need to know if the cd that i have will have the right torque settings. It is the american cd for cars upto 1995, but i think this is only rev2 and my engine is a rev 3.
Anyone know the answer.

Cheers

i torqued up my engine with the 93 bgb figures ,and mine is rev3.
The main things which need accurate torque are (ther are more i know)
head bolts
flywheel bolts
big end bolts
main bearing bolts
exhaust manifold bolts
cam caps, and cam puley bolts
all of these i'm sure were the same as rev3
The rest i have to admit i just done up till i felt they were tight enough

Anything with a torque specified should be torqued to that level. But generally as long as its done up good and proper you'll be fine. The torque spec from 1 rev to another won't vary that much, if at all. However, depending how closely you read the BGB you might notice that there are a few different specs for some bolts. Think its the flywheel bolts are given a different figure at a couple of points in the BGB.
