I went there a couple of years ago but was put off by the price.
At the time they had a Rev 5 NA in silver and black on an S plate and were asking £10,000 for it, I found a V plate one in the end for £7500!
Do you mind me asking what you paid for yours?
They did have some very nice cars there though!

It wasn't by any chance the 1996 N reg goodwood green GT T bar, with 44000 miles and FSH which was up for sale for £4995 but is now sold, was it?
If it was then it looks very nice, but if that was what you paid in my opinion you could have found a lot more car for your money elsewhere.
Having siad that I really like the car, and if you are as happy as you say you are, then thats all that matters! :thumleft:

Have seen showcase sports cars stuff advertised and I agree that their prices are very high even for a dealer.

However, the whole reason most MR2's in the market place are selling for peanuts by is because:-

a) they are dogs
b) they have been modified within an inch of their lives
c) they have high miles
d) they are all of the above!

From the look of Showcase's stock their cars are none of the above - if you don't mind paying a premium for a car thats grade A1 then I can see the appeal.

Many of our dear members tend to buy on price rather than quality and then seem surprised when their doors fall off and their turbo's explode 10 miles down the road.

Hope the car is a good one and that you personally feel you have received value for money from the transaction - that's the most important thing.

Incidentally you can also take refuge in the fact that if your doors do fall off in another 10 miles Showcase will likely look after you...

Hi Richard here at Showcase sports cars.
I have to defend myself here as i have definately not had a silver with black on an S plate in the last couple or even 3 years up at ten grand!
Around ten years ago yes but definately not within the past two.

WOW Thanks someone can see sense! The number of cars we visit which are described as immaculate and turn out to be quite the opposite is unbelievable.A lot look shiny on the surface but are real dogs underneath.
Some guys just do not know a bad car from a good one and pay a grand less for a doggy example.Cant see the logic.
If you give good money for a mint one you will spend very little on it and have a great car to sell on in the future.

Regards

Richard (showcase sports cars)

Hi Richard, the time was April 2005 when I bought the Rev 5 NA I was describing in my post so I guess the time you would have had yours up for £10,000 would have been a couple of months before that.
I don't know if you remember me but I had a black 306 D Turbo I was looking to part ex and we couldn't agree on a deal so in the end I bought the other one.
In all fairness yours was a nice car but the one I got was newer, £2500 less expensive and had done simillar miles, I appreciate I had to sell my 306 privately to acheive the deal I got but the £2500 I saved was saved as there were no problems with the one I bought in the end.
If you're selling a 1996 car in 2008 for £5000, is it really beyond the realms of possibility that you were selling a 1998 car in 2005 for £10,000?

I'm sorry, but for the trouble a sh1tter can be, a good rev3 is definitely worth that money.

Ebay has seriously dragged the prices down, and the quality. I'd pay over £5k for mint rev4 everyday of the week. (until I ran out of money 8-[ )

I paid TOP dollar for my car. But on the plus side, I got a TOP quality Toymota.

It's like all the crappy downpipes on the market. Yes, people want cheap downpipes, because they're cheap. But then they crack, and leak.
I could make an awesome top quality downpipe that would never break. But it would be £400 :D

Then look at my £400 downpipes from the point of view that you can get one for £80, they look overpriced.

Eh I don't really know what I'm going on about now.
Each to their own anyway :D

I have looked back through my records and cannot see a silver car in the ten grand region at all.I think you may have your wires crossed somewhere.
Also just to add, when buying we tend to look beyond the surface and cars of the quality we are selling we are finding are not falling in value they are increasing due to the lack of quality examples out there. Many look great on the surface but can infact be very doggy if you do not know what you are buying.Year after year good ones are getting harder to find and we are having to give more and more for them.

Richard

afternoon all, having never purchased a car from these guys,i can't comment on that side.i did however sell a anniversary addition to richard, just before christmas, and canot praise him enough.i actually contacted him,as i was after a quick sale due to family problems, and did not want the hassle of advertising.i told richard how much i wanted for my car,and the next day he traveled from leeds to stoke by train, gave me the price i had asked for without any quibbles.and we were both happy with the deal.to sum it up,a really genuine guy,and i would not hesitate to reccomend him,and would certainly deal with him again, whether buying or selling,as i know for sure he only deals in the best quality mr2's available.paul.
