When I was still living in Coventry, I was heading into town after a long motorway drive and it took me a couple of minutes to re-adjust my speed

(y'know when 30 feels really slow?!).

It was early evening and I noticed a big black Volvo behind me, but the light was poor and I couldn't see him properly.

I slowed to the limit, just on the off-chance, and he tailed me to near enough the city centre.

Suddenly, up in front, I clocked two boy racers in hatchbacks having a play with each other.

He pulled away to chase them down

- I overtook them a few minutes later as the kid was getting escorted into the back seat of the police car.

I like to think I had a lot to do with that spotty little Saxo driver getting pulled.

.

.

It generally goes to show, though, that there's really no reward for breaking the limit on a regular basis

- especially in and around towns.

I reckon on a 60/70 limit, if it's empty and you're driving safely, they'll normally let you off

(it's happened to me twice) but they are rightly clamping down on built-up areas.

If someone I knew got run over by someone breaking the limit, I know I wouldn't be happy.

Also, I also see myself as helping to fly the flag for MR2 owners.

We mostly have a reputation for not being boy racers, for not being complete xxxx on the road.

If we all do this, the reputation will only improve and we would be less likely to be targeted.

Just my 2p worth.
