Unmarked Police trying to get me done!!!!

Post by skipp123 »

right, had the day off yesterday to clean my motor up and generaly give her a good old clean up, so after i done the usual removed all wheels cleaned them propperly, washed the car and waxed it and hovered the inside made her nice and fresh i decided to go for a little drive,

anyway ended up heading down the A414 toward hatfield was going to r-tec autodesign to see if they had any new interesting stuff so im just cruising slowly at 40mph in a 50mph zone approch a roundabout and have to give way to a blue 5series bm, took a look at the driver and passenger and yup unmarked plod so they slowly accelarate onto the dual carigeway about 6 cars ahead with me behind and keep accalarating and slowing again i thought your trying to get me done lol and stayed at my 40mph anyhow they arnt going any faster just sat at my speed when all of a sudden i look in my rear view mirrow and theres another one {5series full of coppers} stuck to my bumper i was like wtf are u doing theres another lane,

hardly a inconspicuouse car

Image

point of the post is i think the car infront was trying to get me to race and when i didnt it seemed weired to find another one straight up behind me again...... any one else had a simular insident???

where would i stand if i did bite and gun it as they were trying to get me to race

I think they'd nail you to the wall mate, then throw the book at you
If they're undercover cars chances are they'll have cameras on board too and regardless of if they were baiting you or not i think you'd end up in a heap of trouble :D

I imagine the first car baits you into doing something daft, the second sits quietly behind you turning you into "Police Camera Action" footage

Hit the brakes hard so the one behind you goes into your rear - say you had to brake due to the one in front's erratic speed. Sue the force for £££ to replace the car and for your 'distress' etc.

im glad i saw it coming there was loads of them, 5 in the first car and four in the 2nd,, and just me in mine hate to think whos evidence would hold up in court.... got to be so carefull now days the dirty bastids :clown:

Well I think the answer to that would be pretty obvious :D

MR2 driver : I didnt do anything honest guv'

Nice Policeman : Me'lud heres the video footage, camera data and the 8 witness statements from the officers who saw him do it.

Judge : Guilty as charged, take him away, death, beheading, and then 6 points and a thorough telling off

I'm really disappointed at the police for doing that IF they were purposely trying to get you done. It's just sneaky and plain wrong. As drivers we don't seem to have any rights now. You sure the first cop car wasn't just waiting for the second one to catch up?

Must admit, i would have stuck it at 50mph or slightly over (allowing for an over-reading speedo) and overtaken if they weren't driving at the speed limit.

Mind you i've been in this situation myself before and it is incredibly intimidating. When the police play this game it pees me off no end.

Yes, not fun is it, I had an unmarked Scoda Octavia something of other follow me home one evening, not fun having someone follow you turn for turn for no apparent reason!!

My bro's a traffic cop and I've gathered from conversations with him that they regularly use unmarked cars to travel to and from police training, conferences etc...

Going by the number of police officers present (possibley 6+), I'd wager that's the case. Obviously doesn't explain the accelerating and slowing down but there's obviously plenty of explanations for that, such as testing the cars (they deffinately do that).

I've never been baited by the police but accept it probably happens to some degree.

Yes it does go on.I,ve been baited by them when drivin my kitcar a couple of times.Driving wright to the ar$e of me car then backing of then again etc,but luckily i spotted the lights in the grill or other tell tale signs.

Very naughty of them =; especially with all the camera's they use now.It use to be a pleasure driving my car,but now it just seems like I,m looking at the speedo all the time.My inlaw got done for going 32 in a 30 which i think takes the p!ss.

They use to stop u and just tell u off, were as now they just take a pic and send a fine etc.

Easy money springs to mind [-(

DING. I know that feeling. Tis why i save it for trackdays these days. No police, no speed limits etc..

Well what you do if you feel intimidated is:

Take the plate number, dial 999 after stoping or on a hands free kit and say you have witnessed first hand irratic driving car driving up your bumper etc like they are trying to make you race and you feel threatened, maybe with a little crying thrown in...

Someone will sure get an earful when they get back to the yard :thumleft: :eye:

LOL not a bad plan.

There is more than one open case on pepipoo of people done after they had been baited by an unmarked car. You did the right thing. :thumleft:

One guy has been trying for months to get the full session video to show how he was baited, oh yes the plod have resisted that somewhat.

If you did that they'd just hang up on you, and rightly so. 999 is for emergencies, not pissing about.

if somebody is trying to bait you into a race, that is reckless driving. I'd call a life threatening situation like that a bit of an emergency. hell, when you ring, they don't know it's their own people trying to endanger lives. Can guarantee it'd get noted and some sort of action taken, especially if you give the reg number, and follow that up with a letter to the chief constable.
