Mk1 T-Bar in Yellow, Bills for thousands Sold with full MoT

"The Yellow Peril"

Customised and improved Mk1 Mr2 T-Bar 1989, ex club stand car, exhibited at the NEC.

Club members pride and joy, developed over about 5 years(95-2000), this cars has a performance engine by Richard Macer (RM motor sport - formulae Atlantic engine builders and 4age experts), a total - engine out respray in yellow, giant willwood brake conversion, customised yellow interior and numerous other tweaks and adjustments.

Maintained during this period to an incredible standard, she was used as a show car and a daily driver, at huge expense the engine was rebuilt and then re built again, she had annual nose cone resprays to remove stone chips etc to keep everything perfect.
Google and you will find old referances to her on IMOC, and the drivers club.

She left club hands and went to a new owner, who continued to maintain her well, he then sold her on to a younger chap who found the insurance a bit out of his league and she sat parked on his drive in Milton Keynes. I bought her in need of an MOT and starting to deteriorate through lack of use.

My initial intentions of just stripping and braking her, didn't happen, I specifically wanted the brakes for my SC as a willwood conversion is worth more than I paid for her. But as a club member and without a project that year, instead cleaned her, serviced her and put her through some regeneration.
A 75% respray (all panels bar engine lid and bonnet), new sills, new arches, new trip lines all round and a new MoT. Due to bereavement I never really used her, and last year replaced the starter motor, fitted a brand new alternator and had an all belts service and a new performance clutch
She's currently at the garage I use having an MoT and will be available for sale from 14th May.

I have spent £4k on her in the last 2 years, and there are 10's of thousands spent on her by previous owners. The full engine spec is fantastic and the overall look is not "Max Power" but is not standard. The lack of use - I'm guessing I have used her for 100 miles tops since I picked her up, means she's not as spot on as she should be with that spend. Interior has suffered in the sun, when I sent her off for an MoT this week the passenger side electric window wouldn't open nor would the passenger side lock off the central locking, the respray match to the bonnet and engine lid isn't perfect - my fault should have had the whole car done, trim rattles here and there, wheels could do with refurbishing

Milage is circa 200k, but with two engine rebuilds by 4age "guru", service history is over 3 inches thick, on a bored evening and added up the spend on her over the years - came in at 41.5k, added it all up again another time and got 28k, dodgy calculator or sloppy number entry means I have no idea which one is closet to the truth. - and those dont include the money I have spent to restore her.

Prices for Mk1's - don't seem as great as they should be, I'd like to get £2k back but in reality I'll take offers as I need the space on the drive and the next owner is still left with some fettling from lack of use.

NB. - last pictures on here were August 06, car has only been used for 10 miles since they were taken.
Toys include an SC, an Alfa Sprint, a GMC Syclone and an 89 Mass Spyder so I am in reality never going to get time to use her or have the time to sort the weekend niggles.

and I'm in Bridgend South Wales 5 mins Junc 36 M4 - Birmingham 2 hours, Heathrow 2.5 hours, Bristol 1.25 hours (ish...)

This car is NOT mint, nor is it quiet; and if she didnt have the interior, brakes and engine work, she'd be a 1k car for a boy racer to fit a loud stereo in.
Shes not so modified that a non base ball cap wearer would feel uncomfortable, things were done properly on her.
Lack of use the only reason for the minor faults and why she has to go.

Specification as taken from my purchase information / the advert I bought her from :-

SPECIFICATION
Make / Model: ToyotaMR2 Mk 1 T-Bar(AWll)

Date Registered: May 1989

Registration: F545 RLN

Engine Modifications:
Capacity has been increased from 1587cc to 1648cc.

Compression has been increased from 9:8:1 to 10:6:1 by skimming the head by 0.020", thus improving swirl. Using high compression, 0.5mm over sized pistons, the displacement has dropped to 1607cc. Friction has been reduced by using Group A piston rings.

Engine runs supercharger spec. con-rods and late series crank with 42mm big end journals.

Camshafts have been ground from new forgings to retain the original geometry, but with the use of 3 extra duration, higher lift and a specially designed profile which allows greater cylinder filling capabilities with hardly any loss in idle performance, a very difficult thing to achieve whilst retaining the standard MAP sensor system.

RM. Sport tappet and shim range.
0.007" Outlet (standard 0.008" - 0.012")

0.006" Inlet (standard 0.007" - 0.011")

Performance RM. Sport valve springs

Cylinder head is modified to RM. Sport' 'Fast Road Spec. " which is between Group B and Group A rally spec. to give an increased inlet port flow at low piston speed and an increase on exhaust port efficiency.

Inlet valves have been enlarged by 3mm and exhaust by 2mm to further aid head flow capability.

Combustion chambers have been shaped and polished to equal volumes to within 0.2cc

All parts balanced, blue-printed and chemically cleaned prior to assembly.

I have no idea if the stereo works as I've never turned it on, big wheels tram line like a bu88er on the motorway, I've never driven it hard bar a couple of round abouts on the way home and couldnt break traction, no Idea "how fast it it Mr.." as the clutch was only recently replaced and was slipping before.
And like all older cars is worth more in bits than as a whole.

Lovely looking car mate!

One question, where and how much did it cost to get the seats and doorcards leathered up?

Right, had to put this sale on hold as work stopped me collecting the car from the MoT.

Shes back now, polished and cleaned, current photos to follow.

Being viewed on Friday by a club member who put his hand up first, any one else with an interest, please come forward, need the drive back as I still have too many cars.

Current pics and info posted later this evening.

If it's come to Kent then I hope to see it at the Kent Run. I love yellow cars! I am quite envious as I would've loved to have found a yellow one a few years ago when I was looking for a mk1. Still I have my SC now so I can't complain.
