[Mk2] [NA] Mani & exhaust have arrived, need fitting advice (plus pic inside!)

well folks the XS power mani is here, as is the magnex exhaust, so im going to attempt to fit it tomorrow night.
BUT. I need a few problems answered before I attempt it.

1) word is that I should try and undo the mani bolts while they are warm, is there any truth in this rumour?

2) should I use gasket sealer on all the new joints or would the provided gaskets suffice?

3) when rewiring the lamda sensor, is there a particular type of wire that i need? can halfords supply it off the shelf? do I just heat shrink the joint?

4)I am going to heat wrap the mani If that effects number 3!

5) is there a given torque I should apply to the mani bolts on the engine head?

sorry for all the questions, this is the first mod ive applied to the mr and im keen to get it right!

has it come was a gasket for the manifold to the head?

Oh and tighten them until they feel tight. Just dont snap them!

just the gaskets should do. Some sealant wouldnt hurt though.

lol how tight is 'feel tight' in N/m lol! im trying my damndest to avoid snapping them!

it came with the head to manifold gasket too! its pictured just to the left of the magnex \:D/

@Skywalker do you mean I wont need to rewire the O2? Back when I used to own the Starlet Turbo, I enviously watched a local tuner I used to hang about with, cutting and extending the wires to the probes, will this not be the case any more?

why is this luke? due to the gasses it will pass off when the paste heats/melts? sorry if I seem dumb #-o

did you get the manifold direct from XS? may i ask how much?

im assuming its for that reason dale, your more than welcome to ask!
I got my manifold and downpipe for 105 delivereed to Northern Ireland! nearly too good to be true, came in an extremely well packed XS box, full of foam, and well labelled, this far, im very very impressed, both with their service and product.
but the proof is indeed in the eating of the pudding!

I'd like to see how this turns out. Be interested to see some results on N/A mods.

There is a normal rule for not putting sealer before the CAT, not heard it before the o2 sensor, but could be the same thing.

check out their other auctions, they have them buy it now for 129 if your impatient lol! I caught an auction ending within the hour the day I bought mine.

If you click my other posts, theres one asking will this fit my particular model of car, and allegedly it does according to some members here. Even the packaging on the box suggests 'N/a mr2 91-95' and mine is smack bang in the middle at 93 so im hoping it will. Ill find out tonight for sure though.

My good buddy and fellow Toy-motor enthusiast Cameron, is coming up tonight and we're both going to strip the old system off and fit the entire new system, so i'll take my mobile out to my garage with me and take an excessive amount of photos for you all to see how it goes. Ultimately we need to have it running by 7am tomorrow morning as I have to use the car to get to work lol!!!

The N/A they refer to is the 5SFE as seen in the USDM. But you are right in that it will fit both engines as the exhaust ports and stud patterns match. Or at least thats what I've been led to believe from the information I've seen.

why not? The USDM didn't get rev3 models, so they'll be running the rev1/2 configs thus the 5SFE should match the earlier 3SGE engines. Thats my theory anyhoo :D

If it does add resistance, it will be such a minute amount that it wouldn't be noticable.

rev 1 has a different stud patten doesnt it?

Rev 1 is 7 bolt
Rev 2 is 9 bolt
Rev 3 is 8 bolt.
