Mk1 MR2s race in the MR2 Challenge

(within the Roadsports category) of 750 motorclub

(
www.750mc.co.uk).

They started the challenge last year, and have already had one race this year

- with about 15 MR2s on the grid.

Their next race is at Brands hatch on the weekend of the 23rd/24th April.

The cars are sort of stock

- there are rules and regs for the formula telling you what you can and can't do, but you will need to get a

'sealed engine' from red dragon automotive

(
www.reddragonautomotive.com, or
www.mr2racing.com).

If you use your own car that is.

.

.

.

you will also need to fit a roll cage, seat harness, get the Yoko tyres, etc etc.

.

.

.

I'm sure other peeps actually racing in the challenge will pop along soon enough to fill you in properly.

To actually get racing, you could buy a race prepped car for

£3000 ish, you'll also need to do an ARDS test

(see 750 mc for

'get racing' info) which costs

£150

-

£250 depending on where you do it.

You then have MSA fees, 750 mc reg fees, and fees for each event

(its between

£150 and

£200 ish for another formula

- for roadsports i'm not sure), and also you'll need to trailer your car there.

So relatively cheap

If you haven't done it before, I think mr2mk1club(.com) have a car that you could get a drive in.

.

.although you'll still need the ARDS licence.

.

.

.

Reddragon also seem to do drives too.
