your car is in some way disfunctional!

You'd be needing a modded turbo to even stay near that
- and if he's had it remapped then you're looking at 265bhp and 560Nm.
They're quick.

my 535d destroys a lot of things on the road!

I'm sure it does'go' but not 250+bhp MR2 Turbo
'go' is what I mean

Eh?
There quick, but a standard tubby, should easily do away with it.

Firstly I was pi##ed off at the fat fool in the BMW thinking he owner the road but secondly I was gutted that these big capacity diesels really do have some mid range roll on power and even though mines a modded car its not really that quick compared to new technology in todays motors.

It's not a matter of'trust' guys, it's a matter of fact.
The Tubbie would have to be 5th gear roll-on, which is not the point. At 50mph the tubbie would be in 3rd gear at 3500rpm, just about peak torque, so it's gonna be no slouch, and will do 50-100mph in that very same gear.

Don't forget we are talking about a"rolling start" and the midrange may be greater in the bimmer.

Once these cars are up and running you negate alot of the weight disadvantage.

Clearly demonstrated by the fact that one of the fastest cars beteen 30 and 50 in 3rd gear in the Saab 9000 Carlsson which weighs in about 2 tonnes and was stopped in about 1992/3.

Its 0-60 is terrible but once its rolling it has the power to surprise.
Test drove the DMS 535d; DMS told me that they had rolling roaded the car and were seeing 360 BHP and 640lb/ft, but that they were making more conservative claims in their literature.I asked if they would stand by the higher figures if I had my car upgraded, they said yes.

0-60 came up in 5.2 seconds
( 63MPH on the speedo
) with DSC switched on
- I didn't have the courage to dial it out
- and 50-70 in 2.7 seconds.
Throttle response was unbelievable, transition to warp speed would be a good way to describe it.

Pfft salesman's figures.![]()
Perhaps that Saab is geared to top out at 60 in 3rd, not pushing a ton like the
'2.
Those Beemers are pretty good though.
I always point out to people though that when they've tried a diseasel and it felt good, they were probably driving it pretty near peak power at 3000 RPM instead of half revs like the petrol they normally drive- which means that when you rev it out, there's no more.
And torque?![]()
<soapbox> It really doesn't matter.
![]()
Think of the output torque of the entire power unit, it just depends on what gear you are in!
