Anyone recognise this washer?

Post by alfiembra »

I'm part way through restoring the suspension on my mk1a and came across this washer amongst all the nuts and bolts and stuff I've pulled apart. I don't remember taking this off so wondered if I've missed something when I've been dismantling and rebuilding. It's 38mm diameter with an 11mm hole for an M10 bolt. Got me stumped can't see anything like it in the BGB in either the front or rear suspension diagrams.

Wouldn't have thought so red. The pin in the selector arms is 8mm so that would be a bit big. It also looks like it had a star locking washer on it at sometime, the small indentations around the internal diameter.

Having said that I don't have a clue where it came from.

Is it from where the caster adjuster rod mounts to the chassis?

Anyone got a picture of the caster rod, not too sure I understand where that is. If you mean the strut rod it's too small in diameter to fit on it they are a 22mm socket at the sub frame and 14mm socket to the bottom arm. Mind you a 14mm socket is probably about a 10mm bolt shank so not any closer to solving this one.

as a rule Toyota uses fittings with washers that are attached to either the bolt or nut
so this looks like a non standard item, as such it would be difficult to identify by anyone other than whoever fitted it
the marks on it suggest it was bolted down using a "shakeproof" washer so look for where you have one of those fitted and you may find you location
