how to solve safety mode problem!!

Post by jimGTS »

after months of "not" being able to get full boost due to really cold weather, i took the car out yesturday in the sun, lovely and hot, t-bars out, and im pretty sure due to it being TO hot, the bu88er went into safety mode the odd time, but then was fine afterwards.

what options do i have to cut this out?????

when you safe mode do you mean proper safe mode where the ecu cuts the spark whenever it detects boost or just low boost mode?

low boost mode i think, it came back on when i booted it again (yesturday in the sun).
but in cold, i know the bu88er wont full boost unless its been running 30mins (in my experience).

Jim, I'm 99% sure there isn't a 'hot' boost cut on a Rev2. I've driven mine in Europe with engine bay amblient temps around 30-40C and not had any boost cut.

You will get boost cut when its colder than 4-6C - I posted details a while back of how to remove it. Search for VSV and you should find the post with some circuit diagrams showing how you can electronically over-ride the VSV.

perhaps it was my imagination then, and my foot wasnt planted. it only happened with one gear, and came back ok afterwards.

Slightly off topic, but its got to a stage again where im sure im ment to be boosting off the gauge. im only just about hitting the + on th standard gauge, when in the past i someones i can hit over that.
i recently done the dissy, rotor arm and replaced oil and oil filter. thought this might help.

Grainger

Fit a grainger valve and FCD, then cut the VSV vacuum hose and block both ends mate.

Boost will fly past the + mark and always look like it's going to go all the way round .
